As Houston continues to receive more rain – what we know so far is that more than 3 and a half feet of rain has fallen. That’s not a typo…these are actual totals as of early Tuesday morning.
Rainfall records have been set all across Eastern Texas. As of Tuesday afternoon, Houston has received 39.07” of rain so far this month making it the wettest month ever recorded for the city.

Just to make that statistic even more impressive…since June 1st Houston has received over 50” of rain which adds up to be more rain than the city typically sees in a year!
Another amazing statistic – here’s a look at the top ten wettest days ever recorded in Houston. 3 of the top 10 wettest days have occurred since Friday, August 26th!
And our last, and to some, most amazing statistic. The rain from Harvey has added up to be the most rain ever recorded from a landfalling tropical system EVER! More than 50” of rain has fallen in areas of Texas surpassing the old record set back in 1978 of 48” from Tropical Cyclone Amelia.
We’ll continue to see the numbers come in and as the rain continues to fall, we’ll keep you updates and potentially more records.
