Weather Roundup: National Forecast for Dec. 4

Expect partly cloudy skies by sunrise with a few light flurries around New York into New Hampshire. Morning temperatures will be in the 20s and 30s. Plenty of sunshine as high pressure builds in during the day but staying chilly. Highs will be in teh 30s and 40s with 20s in Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. East Central

Behind a cold front we’ll see increasing clouds with some drizzle to light rain by sunrise. Morning lows drop to the 30s and 40s. Expect off and on drizzle to light rain around Kentucky and Tennessee under mostly cloudy skies. Highs will be in the 50s and some 60s from North Carolina to Tennessee, but 30s and 40s from Pennsylvania to West Virginia. Travel safely!

We’ll see partly cloudy skies by sunrise as a cold front drifts across the northern part of Florida. Morning temperatures will be in the 40s, 50s and 60s. Partly cloudy skies through the day with a chance for some rain along the east coast of Florida. Highs will rebound nicely to the 60s and 70s and even some 80s in southern Florida.

Partly to mostly cloudy skies can be expected for the morning commute with some light rain possible in Arkansas. Morning temperatures will be in the 50s and 60s for much of Texas, but 30s and 40s in Oklahoma and Arkansas. We will continue to see mostly cloudy skies during the day with some breaks at times. Highs reach the 60s and 70s with some 50s north. Have a great day and keep the umbrella handy.

Central Plains

Expect a cold and chilly morning across much of the Central Plains, as lows drop into the teens and 20s. Afternoon highs will range from the upper 40s to near 60. Expect partly cloudy skies.

Great Lakes

High pressure will slowly move east out of the region today, but will still manage to keep skies clear in the north. By this afternoon, though, cloud cover will build in from the south, encompassing the region into Friday. Light rain is also possible as overcast skies build in. Morning temperatures will be in the single digits and teens in the north. Lows in the south will be in the 20s. Afternoon highs will warm into the 20s and 30s.

High Plains

Western Montana is under a Winter Weather Advisory until 5 o’clock tonight. A trof of low pressure lingering across Montana and western Wyoming will continue chances for wintry mix and snow through the day. This afternoon, a cold front dropping in from the north will spread some cloud cover across the Dakotas, but otherwise they should be clear and dry. Temperatures this morning will range from the single digits in the northeast to the 20s and 30s in the south. Highs will mainly be in the 20s and 30s, but sun could warm a few spots into the 40s and 50s.

Four Corners

Expects a cool and cloudy night for much of the Four Corners as a trough moves through the area. Overnight lows will generally be in the 30s and 40s, except in southern Arizona. Phoenix will only bottom out in the upper 50s. Some parts of Arizona, Utah and Colorado will deal with some early morning showers as well. Afternoon highs will generally be in the 50s and 60s for the entire region.

Rain and snow will slowly taper off as we work our way through the day, but cloud cover will linger behind the low pressure system. Brief clearing is possible on Thursday, but then another system comes in off the coast on Friday. Look for morning lows to be in the 30s, 40s, and 50s. Temperatures this afternoon will warm into the 40s, 50s, and 60s.

Freezing Rain and Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for north central Oregon, south Central Washington, and northeastern Idaho through the day. A low pressure system moving in from the south will spread a wintry mix of precipitation across the region. Ice accumulations could be as much as one to two tenths of an inch, with up to 2-4″ of snow. Morning lows will be in the 20s, 30s, and 40s. Highs this afternoon will be stuck in the 30s, 40s, and 50s.
