Now for today’s weather out of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch

Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch is a village located on the island of Anglesey in Wales. It is situated on the Menai Strait next to the Britannia Bridge across the strait from Bangor.

Abbreviated  The slightly less long name, Llanfairpwllgwyngyll translates to “Saint Mary’s Church”. Weighing in at 58 characters it is the longest place name in Europe and the second longest official one-word place name in the world.

As Weather people, we understand the task at hand of pronouncing every name correctly. Mix in regional dialect and specific lingual pronunciations and it truly becomes a difficult task at hand. British Channel 4’s Weatherman Liam Dutton, takes the award home for teaching us all how to say this ridiculously long name:

Warm day in Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysilio…

It may be a mouthful to say, but Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch in north west Wales was one of the warmest places in the UK today. And, it was no problem for our Welsh weather presenter Liam Dutton to mention it on today’s weather forecast.
