Weekend Snow Ahead in the Mountains of the West

15 Dec 2017, 4:21 pm

A change in the upper level weather pattern will bring a round of snow across most of the mountain ranges in the West. The strong high pressure ridge that has kept most of the west dry and mild will be replaced by an upper level trough and low pressure center, bringing snowfall. Winter Weather Advisories extend from Washington into Wyoming. More than a foot of snow is possible from east of the Cascades into the Tetons through this weekend.

The first wave of snow extends along a cold front, dropping south from Canada. Snow showers will spread from near Glacier National Park tonight, pushing southward into the Tetons Saturday. A temporary break from the snow is likely Saturday afternoon, but another wave of snow will push toward the Cascades Saturday night into Sunday.
