Wind and Heat, The Santa Anas are back!
High pressure is building inland from the Pacific Ocean leading to a warm and dry wind, called the Santa Anas. This wind will be affecting Southern California through Friday afternoon leading to above average temperatures and low humidity. This sets the stage for higher fire danger. There is an elevated risk for fire danger Wednesday & Thursday. See graphic below. The National Weather Service has issued High Wind Warnings around Los Angeles and San Diego through Friday morning. Expect sustained winds of 30-40 mph with gusts to 60-80 mph in the warning. There are Wind Advisories in place through Thursday afternoon for the city of Los Angeles and San Diego. In this area sustained winds will be from 15-30 mph and gusts up to 45 mph. These winds will help to boost temperatures to near records for many locations. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80s.
