Windy Weather for the Great Lakes Thursday
The Great Lakes will be dealing with strong winds Thursday morning and afternoon. The wind speeds will likely stay below advisory criteria, but the blustery north winds will create some dangerous water conditions for Lake Ontario and Lake Michigan.
Windy Weather Setup
An area of low pressure moving through southern Canada Thursday morning is bringing strong winds to the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes. Max winds over the past 24 hours ranged from 13 to 41 mph. These strong winds will continue throughout the morning and into the afternoon.
The latest timing for the strong winds will be Thursday morning until Thursday afternoon. Wind speeds will be much weaker by Thursday evening.
The strong winds will create dangerous conditions over the Lake Ontario waters. Gale warnings are in effect for the rest of the day…this means winds of 34-47 knots will create dangerous conditions for any vessels in the water.
