A coastal low pressure center will bring snow and ice from Florida to New England this week. Winter Storm Watches have already been issued from near the Big Bend in Florida to around Chesapeake Bay, extending northward to Boston.
A few inches of snow is possible along the I-95 corridor from Florida into the Middle Atlantic. Some sleet or freezing rain may occur in northern Florida, eastern Georgia, and eastern North Carolina.
The storm will be fast moving, scooting from the Florida Straits Wednesday morning to near the Outer Banks of North Carolina by Wednesday night. A band of snow will fall behind the low near the coast. As the storm moves further northeast, significant snow is possible in the Northeast later this week. The exact track of the low will affect accumulations significantly, as this will be fine tuned with future forecasts throughout the week.
