On Friday at approximately 7:02 AM, local time, the Clark County Fire Department (CCFD) responded to an unknown problem at Giles and Mandalay Bay Road in Las Vegas, NV. CCFD Crews located and then recovered an adult female who was deceased. She was trapped underneath heavy debris in the wash from recent flash flooding.
Metro Police and the Coroner were also called to the scene. Clark County Fire Department rescued 8 adults, 3 dogs, and 1 cat during yesterday’s rainstorm.
Flash floods occur quickly and without warning. Clark County Fire Department would like to remind the community of the dangers of flood waters and to remember the following:
• Do not access flood channels
• Avoid all areas where there are flood waters. Six inches of moving water can knock an adult from their feet.
• Do not drive through flood waters. Two feet of water can sweep your vehicle away.
• If there is a chance of flash flooding, move immediately to higher ground.
