<p>Multiple Flash Flood Emergencies were issued Friday morning and again Saturday morning as heavy rainfall moved through portions of the Texas Hill Country. Several locations accumulated over a foot of rainfall in a short amount of time, including San Angelo, which recorded almost 13" of rainfall. The yearly average of rainfall for San Angelo is around 21".</p><div class="twitter-tweet" style="display: flex; justify-content: center" data-twitt-post-id="1941655838403526721" src="https://x.com/WeatherNation/status/1941655838403526721"></div><h1>FRIDAY</h1><p>As storms ignited Friday, they were largely anchored in the same position all night. Rainfall rates of 3-4 inches per hour started to pile up. Areas just west of Round Rock have already picked up more than 12 inches of rain since earlier this morning.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/07/Screenshot 2025-07-05 162329-1751754216251.png"><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/07/1-1751768546910.png">As rivers rise again, please heed Flash Flood Warnings and get to higher ground as soon as they're issued.</p><h1>WHAT HAPPENED?</h1><p>A mesoscale convective vortex (MCV) was spinning around the area the past few mornings. That helps generate showers and storms - it's its own low-pressure system. That spun its way through a very moist airmass. But without any upper-level winds to help push these storms anywhere, it rained and rained over the same places for extended periods of time.</p><video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/07/2025-07-05 07-30-23-1751724329889.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video><h1>Forecast</h1><video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/07/FORECAST-1751836639278.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video><p>The fear today is more slow-moving storms in areas that have been hit hard this weekend. Models seem to keep the activity around through the midday hour as the storms slowly drift southwestward. Models have been struggling with pinpointing the exact areas of the additional heavy rain, however.</p>

That interest was fostered by his teachers and his father, who one time brought him onto the roof of their home to watch a funnel cloud move through the Everglades several miles away. Years of filmmaking and tv production in high school gradually pushed him toward broadcast meteorology at Florida State University, where he joined and eventually led the student run daily weather show. After graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Meteorology, he began his career at KESQ in Palm Springs, California before heading to KFSN in Fresno and WLOS in Asheville, North Carolina. He has covered a diverse array of extreme weather events, including haboobs and flash flooding in the desert, extreme snow in the Sierra, hurricanes, and Appalachian ice storms. He also enjoys telling stories and reporting about weather issues.

<p><strong>NORTHERN PLAINS</strong> - A frontal system continues to move out of the Plains and into the Upper Midwest, sparking showers and thunderstorms. Wind gusts were again significant across the northern Plains on Friday afternoon and evening.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/07/Screenshot 2025-07-06 051018-1751800262403.png"></p><h2>Severe Weather Outlooks</h2><p>Isolated severe storms are possible as the front continues to trek to the east. Michigan through Missouri will have the chance for isolated severe storms, mostly in the afternoon.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/07/Screenshot 2025-07-06 103539-1751819762238.png">The next front moves east into the Midwest by Tuesday, likely spurring additional severe storms from Iowa to Texas.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/07/Screenshot 2025-07-06 051033-1751800275475.png"></p><h1>Timing</h1><p>Afternoons will be the most active as the cold front taps into heat that builds while the sun is up. Severe Storms in the Midwest Continue To Spoil the Holiday Weekend

<p>Following the prolific start to the season, the Eastern Pacific remains quite active as the National Hurricane Center is tracking two different areas of interest southwest of Mexico. Invest 96E or the orange highlighted area has a medium chance of development in the next couple of days. The chances have backed off as it appears less likely that something will come together. The region outlined in yellow is for another low pressure system expected to form later in the week.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/07/tomer e pac summar-1751825582462.jpg">The spaghetti plots show 96-E remaining well south of Mexico as it churns westward. Eastern Pacific Remains Active

<p>Severe storms will continue to fire up off the Rocky Mountains, pushing east into the western Plains for the next few days. Wind shear will remain in the region with plenty of warmth and humidity for orographic lift to trigger storms in the afternoons.</p><h1><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/07/Screenshot 2025-07-06 062955-1751805014715.png"></h1><h1>Outlooks</h1><p>Outlooks for Sunday and Monday include a slight and an enhanced risk, with wind and hail as the primary hazards each day. Severe Storms Target the Front Range & Great Plains

<p>Tropical Storm Chantal formed earlier Saturday morning, and made landfall early Sunday morning with sustained winds of 50 mph. Winds have knocked down some palm fronds and lead to a foot or two of storm surge so far. But, this is turning more into an inland flooding issue instead of tropical storm-force winds</p><p></p><h1>Forecast</h1><p>Expect scattered showers and thunderstorms into Monday. Isolated Flash Flooding is possible across interior North and South Carolina.</p><video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/07/New Baron Video 3-1751770362244.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video><p>A stripe of heavy rain is the primary concern, falling somewhere in the southern Virginia-North Carolina-South Carolina vicinity.
