There’s never been a day with this much snow in Flagstaff, Arizona (in recorded history) until today. The city has officially had its snowiest day ever on record.
Through 5 p.m. Mountain Time Thursday, Flagstaff had picked up 31.6 inches since midnight. That beat out the previous daily snowfall record of 31 inches set way back in 1915. The storm total (including some snow from Wednesday night) was up to 33.1″ as of 5 p.m. MT.
Even more snow is to come! A winter storm warning remains in effect for Flagstaff through Friday morning. Between 6 p.m. MT Thursday and the end of the storm Friday, another 8-12 inches of snow is projected to fall over Flagstaff!
Difficult to at times impossible travel is expected along portions of Interstate 40 and 17. Nearby Las Vegas also had a snowfall record of 0.8″! That was the highest snowfall since December 2008!
