Rob grew up in South Florida, where daily afternoon storms and hurricanes piqued his interest in meteorology early on. That interest was fostered by his teachers and his father, who one time brought him onto the roof of their home to watch a funnel cloud move through the Everglades several miles away. Years of filmmaking and tv production in high school gradually pushed him toward broadcast meteorology at Florida State University, where he joined and eventually led the student run daily weather show. After graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Meteorology, he began his career at KESQ in Palm Springs, California before heading to KFSN in Fresno and WLOS in Asheville, North Carolina. He has covered a diverse array of extreme weather events, including haboobs and flash flooding in the desert, extreme snow in the Sierra, hurricanes, and Appalachian ice storms. He also enjoys telling stories and reporting about weather issues.

A cut-off low-pressure system has been slowly moving onshore from the Pacific in California, sending rounds of showers and thunderstorms into the Four Corners and Great Basin. Wednesday, the same area of low pressure resulted in a few strong to severe storms in the Phoenix metro. Rain will stack along the Front Range of Colorado Thursday into Friday, with heavy mountain snow expected. It looks too warm for the Front Range, but it can't be completely ruled out. Originally born in Spokane, Washington,  Jackie's Dad was in the Air Force which led her to a life of travel. She has lived in Wichita, Okinawa, Japan, Baltimore, New Jersey, Indiana and South Carolina.  After graduating from Kadena High School, in Okinawa Japan, she got a full basketball scholarship to Coppin State College. On the court she was a 4-year starter and reached over 1000 points in her basketball career. She was also named Athlete of the Year for the whole university in 2002. Off the court, she earned a degree in Broadcast Production/English.

After college, she landed a job as a radio personality. Jackie went on to have a successful career for 12 years working at KXLY broadcast center. While on the radio, she decided to change career. Jackie went back to school, graduating from the Mississippi State Meteorology Broadcast Program. From snow, to tornadoes, to hurricanes, she has had experience forecasting all these events.

Another November day in the south and another day of more record warmth! The high-pressure system bringing the record temperatures is sliding east and will stick around through the weekend.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/1-1763604300006.png"><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/2-1763604305676.png">.<h1>Southern Plains</h1>Although Texas is no stranger to heat, temperatures are still feeling more like summer, with some locales reaching high temperatures 15-20°+ above average! There will be a shift in the pattern, as some cities, including Oklahoma City, will see the temperatures drop to the 60s on Thursday.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-19 125239-1763581967532.png"><h1>Southeast</h1>As the ridge migrates further east later this week, places like Tennessee and North Carolina will get a bump to their afternoon highs. Alana Cameron was born and raised in Canada in the city of Mississauga, just outside of Toronto. Alana is the oldest of 4 siblings, all close in age, and grew up playing outside with them in all types of weather. After graduating high school, Alana moved to study at the University of British Columbia in Kelowna for a year before transferring to Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia where she completed a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Atmospheric Science. Upon completion, Alana moved back to Toronto where she completed a post-grad degree in Meteorology at York University. After her post-grad, she went on to complete another post-grad in Broadcast Journalism - TV News at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario. During her final year of studies she had the privilege of interning with the best in the business in Canada at The Weather Network. Once she finished her internship, she got the call from small-town Denison, Texas where she accepted a job as an on-air meteorologist at KTEN-TV, right in tornado alley, covering severe weather from Sherman/Denison (North Texas) to Ada (Southern Oklahoma). After the most active tornado season Oklahoma had seen in May 2019 (105 tornadoes!) Alana is excited to join WeatherNation to cover weather all across the nation. WEST - After heavy rain, heavy snow, and strong winds over the last few days, another Pacific Trough will be moving onshore tonight. Our forecast models show rain and snow across portions of the West Coast through tonight. The low will move south and spin in Southern California Thursday through Saturday, producing pockets of heavy rain.<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/wesssr-1763604394388.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video>The higher elevations will get additional snow with more rain accumulations for the lower elevations.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-19 150158-1763589733540.png">Southern California could see several inches of heavy rainfall, which may lead to a flooding risk, especially because we have had a lot of recent rainfall. The higher elevations can expect up to five to ten with localised amounts of 16 inches of snowfall.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-19 150202-1763589739190.png">The Weather Prediction Center (WPC) already has a marginal (level 1 out of 4) threat for Southern California to see heavy rainfall and flooding Thursday through Friday.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-19 125434-1763582351812.png">The National Weather Service has also added winter storm watches for the Riverside County Mountains and San Bernardino County mountains for Thursday through Saturday, with the heaviest snowfall expected Thursday night into Friday morning. <h1>WHAT TO EXPECT </h1>Temperatures have been hot in the south-central U.S., especially in Texas, where record highs have been set over the last few days. Storms have developed in Texas and Oklahoma and will continue through the overnight hours. The rain will last into Thursday evening, with a few isolated storms around on Friday. <video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/TEXS EHVV-1763604101086.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video><h1>SEVERE THREAT </h1>The Storm Prediction Center has issued a MARGINAL (level 1 out of 5) risk for severe storms through tonight in portions of West Texas and into the Red River Valley of Oklahoma. The primary concern is large hail, but a few damaging wind gusts can't be ruled out at this point.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-19 150517-1763589923583.png">The SPC has also issued a MARGINAL (level 1 out of 5) risk for severe weather on Thursday for portions of East Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas as the front moves east.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-19 150549-1763589985183.png">There are a few things that might hinder the severity of these storms. Questionable timing on the storms could keep them from reaching their full potential. Since storms could hold off until after sunset, the window to tap into the unstable air that builds up during the day could be narrow. AAA is expecting a record number of travelers this year, a number surpassing a record-breaking 2024! OHIO RIVER VALLEY - We have had multiple reports of hail across Illinois and Indiana.(above) Bellair, IL, saw 2.50" hail as of Tuesday afternoon. The severe threat remains in place through this Wednesday morning.<h2>Ohio Valley</h2>The SPC has maintained a SLIGHT risk for severe weather along the same warm front across parts of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee. Most storms should be hail-producers, but an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-18 193324-1763519649318.png">Storms will continue to ride along a low-pressure system through Wednesday morning. Make sure to have multiple ways to get alerts. The Space Weather Prediction Center correctly said Tuesday, November 11th, that aurora chances could be seen as far south as Alabama and California. As of 1 pm ET on November 12th, the SWPC issued a Geomagnetic Storm Watch of G4 or higher, the same alert level issued for Tuesday night into Wednesday!<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-12 112939-1762972276799.png"><h3>THE FORECAST:</h3>Timing with the arrival of CMEs and their corresponding aurora is difficult to forecast, but this is the latest outlook from the Space Weather Prediction Center (released around midday Wednesday) for Wednesday night. The season’s first Arctic blast surged into the South, arriving nearly three weeks ahead of meteorological winter, which begins December 1. Driven by a deep upper-level trough, this system has funneled frigid Canadian air all the way down to Texas. Multiple record lows were set over the past few days across the south and southeast. The lake effect snow season has arrived, with heavy snow expected now through Tuesday. Places in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan have already received a foot of snow! <img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-10 054716-1762778844004.jpg"> Winter weather alerts remain in place all across the shores of the Great Lakes through Tuesday. An additional 6-12" in some locations, with heavy snowfall rates likely reducing visibility at times, will make travel very difficult.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-11 073236-1762871565435.jpg"><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-11 105614-1762883788305.png"><h1>How Lake Effect Works</h1>Water has a much higher heat capacity than air, meaning it takes more time to warm up and cool down. This leads to "mild" water temperatures in the Great Lakes while the air overhead can be much cooler. As the cold, dry air moves over these areas, it's able to evaporate moisture from the lakes until it condenses into clouds and precipitation before falling out over land. Typically, we need at least a 13° F difference between the lake water and the air aloft (around 1500 m, or 4500-5000 ft) for lake effect snow to form.<h1>Forecast</h1>With winds coming over the Great Lakes, we can still anticipate lake effect snowfall to continue. Next, a quick-moving clipper will move through to bring a few wintry bands to the snowbelt.<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/11-11 rne-1762883738383.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video>Take this snow event as an example for the next one, make sure your vehicle is ready for winter travel with some good tread on your tires and a winter driving kit. A system has been bringing snow across the Plains and Midwest on Saturday. This same system will continue to push through the Great Lakes into Sunday morning. Midwest Clipper Brings Light Snow, Gusty Winds

Secondary severe weather season is underway across the U.S. - so called because it typically pales in comparison to the primary severe weather season in the spring. However, the fall can provide high-end severe weather threats of its own, including the December 2021 tornado outbreak. Thankfully, the severe weather setup for now through Sunday doesn't look to be on the high-end, but a few scattered severe storms will be possible.<hr><h1>Severe Storm Outlooks/Hazards</h1>Early morning severe storms will be possible along the cold front driving south. Large hail and damaging winds will be possible with any severe storms and the severe risk should diminish by sunrise.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/PIC 2-1762564233131.jpg">The threat for isolated severe storms will continue Saturday into Sunday as the cold front is dragged through the south. NORTHEAST - The Storm Prediction Center has maintained an overnight MARGINAL (level 1 out of 5) risk for severe weather overnight across portions of the northeastern U.S. for a few gusty storms that could reach severe limits as our cold front exits.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/main threattttt-1762392343860.png"><h2>Wind + Fire Danger</h2>Widespread wind alerts remain in place through Thursday. Some airports have been experiencing delays because of the strong winds. If you have any travel plans, be sure to check for updates and delays.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-05 173942-1762389589730.png">Due to some drier conditions further south and the potential for gusty winds, several red flag warnings have been issued.
