MIAMI, FL- As storms rumbled through Florida on Sunday, attendees at the Daytona 500 had to wait another day to watch their favorite drivers with a weather-related postponement to the event. Meanwhile, storms in South Florida and the Keys were strong enough to produce tornado damage.
According to the National Weather Service in Miami, Florida, after extensive storm surveys performed on Monday, the office has confirmed four tornadoes across Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.
Two of these tornado reports have an unknown rating, while two have a preliminary rating of EF0. A tornado can get an "unknown" rating when there is too little damage or not long enough of a track to determine storm strength.
Meanwhile, in the Florida Keys, the Cudjoe Key saw a waterspout which led to damage on Sunday. The National Weather Service has rated this an EF-0 which was on the ground for less than a mile as it moved from water onto land. Another EF-0 was confirmed in Summerland Key with winds of 75 mph.
