Rob grew up in South Florida, where daily afternoon storms and hurricanes piqued his interest in meteorology early on. That interest was fostered by his teachers and his father, who one time brought him onto the roof of their home to watch a funnel cloud move through the Everglades several miles away. Years of filmmaking and tv production in high school gradually pushed him toward broadcast meteorology at Florida State University, where he joined and eventually led the student run daily weather show. After graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Meteorology, he began his career at KESQ in Palm Springs, California before heading to KFSN in Fresno and WLOS in Asheville, North Carolina. He has covered a diverse array of extreme weather events, including haboobs and flash flooding in the desert, extreme snow in the Sierra, hurricanes, and Appalachian ice storms. He also enjoys telling stories and reporting about weather issues.

Multiple low-pressure systems moving across the country will bring heavy rain to the Gulf Coast through the end of the week, but on the northern periphery of these lows, cold air will linger, turning rain into snow and ice! Freezing temperatures from tonight into Friday will be in place across northern Tennessee and Virginia, where spotty snow &amp; ice are expected.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/Screenshot 2025-12-03 090302-1764777794026.png">Tonight, we will be keeping an eye out for wintry weather in states like Tennessee and Kentucky. Virginia into North Carolina and some areas around the Chesapeake Bay will see a round of mostly snow Friday morning, with moderate ice accretions possible along the Blue Ridge Escarpment in Western North Carolina.<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/New Baron Video 3-1764905280378.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video>Snow accumulations look mostly minor, generally 1-3 inches, but higher elevations in the Blue Ridge Mountains could see some 3-6 inch totals. Freezing rain and sleet aren't expected to cause major issues, but elevated surfaces (like bridges and overpasses) could be slick, primarily in North Carolina Friday morning.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/1-1764905174956.png">Winter weather advisories have been issued for light to moderate amounts of snow and some ice accumulations.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/1-1764892817986.png">The WSSI for Ice highlights areas (below) where ice accretions could cause some issues. Snow & Ice Could Slow Down D.C., Parts of the South

DENVER, CO - Denver has finally seen its first significant snow this season, with 6.5 inches reported downtown. The highest totals are coming down in the higher elevations, with 11 inches reported in Genesee.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/Screenshot 2025-12-04 095720-1764867453909.png">The "Mile High" city recorded its first snowfall of the season two days after Thanksgiving as a strong trough moved through the northern Rockies. To count as measurable snow, it needs to accumulate to at least one-tenth of an inch, which the Denver airport doubled with that quick round of snowfall Saturday morning. The first snow date of November 29th makes it Denver's 2nd latest start to the snow season on record, with 2021 being the only year with a later first snow.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-29 082401-1764430054403.png">The snowfall also ended a long streak of snowless days, tied for the third-longest since record-keeping began.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-29 082406-1764430062849.png"><h1>Forecast Snow</h1>Another round of snowfall is in store for the Rocky Mountains, as a frontal system dives in. Precipitation will start tonight in parts of Utah and spread south throughout the overnight and Friday. Another round of snow is likely for the weekend with higher moisture content coming from the Northwest.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/1-1764892286287.png"><video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/New Baron Video 3-1764892355023.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video>With today's round and our late-week round, snowfall totals may reach upwards of a foot plus in the higher elevations.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/1-1764892417459.png">This snowfall is more than welcome for some of the ski resorts in the Rockies. Alana Cameron was born and raised in Canada in the city of Mississauga, just outside of Toronto. Alana is the oldest of 4 siblings, all close in age, and grew up playing outside with them in all types of weather. After graduating high school, Alana moved to study at the University of British Columbia in Kelowna for a year before transferring to Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia where she completed a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Atmospheric Science. Upon completion, Alana moved back to Toronto where she completed a post-grad degree in Meteorology at York University. After her post-grad, she went on to complete another post-grad in Broadcast Journalism - TV News at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario. During her final year of studies she had the privilege of interning with the best in the business in Canada at The Weather Network. Once she finished her internship, she got the call from small-town Denison, Texas where she accepted a job as an on-air meteorologist at KTEN-TV, right in tornado alley, covering severe weather from Sherman/Denison (North Texas) to Ada (Southern Oklahoma). After the most active tornado season Oklahoma had seen in May 2019 (105 tornadoes!) Alana is excited to join WeatherNation to cover weather all across the nation. NORTHWEST - We're in for a stormy and snowy pattern from the Pacific Coast to the Rocky Mountains. Rain pushed onshore Thursday morning and has been moving into the Interior this afternoon. This will fall as snow over the mountains. Overnight, the frontal boundary moves onshore, bringing another push of rain and snow.<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/New Baron Video 3-1764904686196.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video>With a couple of rounds of rain and snow, totals could be quite high across the west. Our forecast models have totals along the coast and in the foothills of the Cascades reaching upwards of 7 inches.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/web1-1764857519285.png">As this moisture moves up the mountains, snowfall totals will climb. The heaviest looks to happen in the Cascades of Washington and the Bitterroots of Idaho and Montana. Northwest Storms Bring Snowy, Rainy Weather

As bitterly cold air moves into the Northern Plains <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="">link</a>, a temperature gradient will set up across eastern Montana, setting up the stage for further snow across the Plains and Midwest.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/Screenshot 2025-12-04 172329-1764894262223.png">A surface low will begin to deepen along this gradient by the weekend, and continue to strengthen as it pushes across the Plains and into the Midwest through the day Saturday. By Sunday morning, residents of Chicago could be waking up to falling snow. Models are also showing the possible snow across much of Wisconsin, Michigan, northern Illinois, and northern Indiana. <video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/mwlow-1764893945785.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video>By later in the day on Sunday, most of the snow will be heading towards to Northeast, leaving cold air and lake-effect snow in its wake. <img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/Screenshot 2025-12-04 172345-1764894524623.png">While this system moves across cities that were impacted by heavy snow last weekend, this upcoming system won't be quite as powerful. However, we can expect a wide swath of snow from eastern Montana through Ohio of 1-3". Higher totals may be noted from Sioux Falls, across Iowa, and into the Quad Cities.

Quick Moving System To Bring More Snow to the Midwest

Originally born in Spokane, Washington,  Jackie's Dad was in the Air Force which led her to a life of travel. She has lived in Wichita, Okinawa, Japan, Baltimore, New Jersey, Indiana and South Carolina.  After graduating from Kadena High School, in Okinawa Japan, she got a full basketball scholarship to Coppin State College. On the court she was a 4-year starter and reached over 1000 points in her basketball career. She was also named Athlete of the Year for the whole university in 2002. Off the court, she earned a degree in Broadcast Production/English.

After college, she landed a job as a radio personality. Jackie went on to have a successful career for 12 years working at KXLY broadcast center. While on the radio, she decided to change career. Jackie went back to school, graduating from the Mississippi State Meteorology Broadcast Program. From snow, to tornadoes, to hurricanes, she has had experience forecasting all these events.

The Northern Tier of the country is no stranger to cold, and with that being said, another shot of arctic air is here for the next few days. High and low temperatures will be well below average! The mercury dropped to more than 20 degrees below zero Thursday morning for a few areas in the Upper-Midwest, with many states registering temperatures below 0. We're waiting on official numbers to see how many records were broken!<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/1-1764893083337.png">The coldest air pivots east for Friday morning, with many additional record lows possible from New York through the Great Lakes.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/1-1764893338569.png">High temperatures will also be below average. Minneapolis has an average high of 33° for this time of year, and will only see 17° for a high on Thursday. Chicago is expected to reach a high of 17° on Thursday, which is below its average high of 41° for this time of year.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/web8-1764851063167.png">The cold air will move eastward and bring temperatures significantly lower in portions of the Northeast and Ohio Valley. Burlington, VT, will wake up to 4° on Friday morning.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/web9-1764851121074.png">Another round of arctic air is expected to spill southward into the Midwest and Northeast over the weekend. Many will wake up to wind chills well below zero from Saturday through Monday morning.<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/2025-12-04 09-45-03-1764866731427.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video>When it gets this dangerously cold, even if it only lasts a day or two, bring the pets inside and remember to check on neighbors who might be susceptible to this.
