<div data-youtube-video=""><iframe width="640" height="480" allowfullscreen="false" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/y7BQVBOF-dg" start="0"></iframe></div><p>Coastal areas will be dealing with intrusions of ocean water, known as coastal flooding, during the week ahead with the return of king tides!</p><h2>What is a "king tide?"</h2><p>When the gravitational pull of the sun and moon are both higher than normal, high and low tides become more pronounced, leading to flooding during high tide and potentially low water issues during the low tides.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-02 051621-1762088418982.png">This happens most often from the fall through the spring as the sun's gravitational pull on the earth is the strongest. Despite winter conditions in North America, the sun is actually closest to the earth in early January.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-02 051520-1762088418986.png"><br><br>King tides are most pronounced when the moon is at its closest point to the Earth in its orbit, which is known as perigee. This is happening at the same time as the full moon for both November and December, creating what's known as a supermoon. During these supermoon events, the moon will be about 14,000 miles closer to the Earth than normal!</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-02 060337-1762088634156.png"><br><br>December will also feature a round of king tides with another supermoon!</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-02 054718-1762088653776.png"></p>

The state of Alabama is prone to seeing various types of weather from severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, hurricanes, and winter weather. Severe Storm Threat for Texas Coast Early Sunday Morning

<p>They aren't out to suck your blood, and they're definitely not rodents, but bats still get a bad wrap and are associated with the spookiest season of all. There are two that will be visible with the assistance of binoculars or a telescope tonight, and for the next few nights.</p><h2>LEMMON</h2><p>Comet Lemmon will be the easiest to spot tonight. Simply a pair of binoculars should be all you need. Find the Big Dipper and loow a little west from there and you should be able to spot it!</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/10/Screenshot 2025-10-21 110414-1761066269539.png"></p><h2>SWAN</h2><p>This is the dimmest of the two and might require the help of a telescope. Luckily, many of us have a pretty clear night in store, with the lone exception around the Great Lakes. FORECAST: Comets Should Be Visible for Many Tonight

<p>Over the weekend of October 11th, and 12th, thousands of Alaskan residents along the western coast were slammed by the remnants of Typhoon Halong. The one super typhoon dipped below typhoon level strength, but still packed a powerful punch as it battered the coastline.</p><div class="twitter-tweet" style="display: flex; justify-content: center" data-twitt-post-id="1978936489565212816" src="https://x.com/WeatherNation/status/1978936489565212816"></div><p>Nearly 100 mile per hour winds were recorded and storm surge swept homes off their foundations, leading to one of the most significant airlifts in Alaskan history as coastal villages were evacuated.</p><p>The communities of Kipnuk and Kwigillingok saw water levels more than 6 feet above their highest tide cycles.</p><div class="twitter-tweet" style="display: flex; justify-content: center" data-twitt-post-id="1978173969028272296" src="https://x.com/WeatherNation/status/1978173969028272296"></div><p>Multiple shelters across the state have been opened for those whose lives have been impacted by the storm, but many of the communities are not accessible by roads and can only be reached via boat or airplane, making it a challenge for relief work to be done in the area. Local officials said even with emergency repairs many homes will not be livable by winter.</p><p>More than 1000 residents have been evacuated to various locations. Evacuees have been taken to Anchorage, but the trip is over 500 miles away, and while some shelters closer to home like Bethel, AK are open, they have already reached capacity.</p><p>We spoke with multiple organizations assisting with the relief efforts to learn more on what the disaster relief looks like, and the challenges they face to help these communities recover.</p><h1><u>WORLD CENTRAL KITCHEN:</u></h1><p>This is the second time WCK has responded to typhoon flooding in Alaska. In 2022, the remnants of Typhoon Merbok pounded Alaska's western coast, affecting 21,000 people during the peak of hunting and gathering season. Together with local groups, WCK delivered fresh food and water to families in need.&nbsp;</p><p>Our teams are flying across the flood-devastated regions of western Alaska to provide dry goods and warm meals to communities in need. October is Leave the Leaves Month

<p style="margin: 0in; margin-bottom: .0001pt;"><span style="font-size: 13.5pt; color: #454545;">Rob grew up in South Florida, where daily afternoon storms and hurricanes piqued his interest in meteorology early on. That interest was fostered by his teachers and his father, who one time brought him onto the roof of their home to watch a funnel cloud move through the Everglades several miles away. Years of filmmaking and tv production in high school gradually pushed him toward broadcast meteorology at Florida State University, where he joined and eventually led the student run daily weather show. After graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Meteorology, he began his career at KESQ in Palm Springs, California before heading to KFSN in Fresno and WLOS in Asheville, North Carolina. He has covered a diverse array of extreme weather events, including haboobs and flash flooding in the desert, extreme snow in the Sierra, hurricanes, and Appalachian ice storms. He also enjoys telling stories and reporting about weather issues.

<p>La Niña was observed in September, leading to NOAA issuing a La Niña advisory. These conditions are expected to persist through winter into spring, with impacts likely for the upcoming winter season and beyond into next spring. La Niña often plays a role in determining storm tracks during the winter season and severe weather into the spring.</p><h1>What is La Niña?</h1><p>La Niña is one phase of a large circulation over the equatorial Pacific Ocean. The prevalent wind direction will churn up cooler or warmer water, based on the direction of the circulation. When winds are prevailing from the east, it churns up cooler waters near the coast of South America and to the west, while areas in the western Pacific see warmer than average water temperatures during this phase. These cooler waters, along with other large scale circulations, impact how air flows across the United States.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/10/Screenshot 2025-10-10 110029-1760115646348.png">During strong La Niñas, the jet stream is typically more active from the Northwest through the Great Lakes. This effect is typically less pronounced during weaker events. This often favors better chances for precipitation across the northern tier of the country, including the Northwest and Great Lakes.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/10/Screenshot 2025-10-10 095632-1760111817342.png"></p><h1>Impact for Winter 25'-26'</h1><p>NOAA releases their outlook for the upcoming winter season this Thursday (October 16th) but the Climate Prediction Center continuously updates outlooks for three month periods. These outlooks likely won't change much with next week's update but we'll bring you that forecast when it's released. The temperature and precipitation outlooks for December - February show conditions typical for a La Niña year, with below average temperatures favored in the Pacific Northwest.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/10/Screenshot 2025-10-10 095641-1760111827269.png"></p><p>The precipitation outlook also favors conditions fairly typical for a La Niña winter, with above average precipitation favored around the Northern Rockies and Great Lakes/Ohio Valley.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/10/Screenshot 2025-10-10 095637-1760111827269.png"></p><h1>Spring Severe Weather / Tornado Impacts</h1><p>La Niña is expected to decay through the spring months, which can have a big impact on the severe weather season. <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.gfdl.noaa.gov/research_highlight/u-s-regional-tornado-outbreaks-and-their-links-to-spring-enso-phases-and-north-atlantic-sst-variability/">Studies have shown</a> a increase in the potential for tornado outbreaks over certain areas of the country as La Niña decays into a neutral or El Niño phase. These favored areas include the Central/Southern Plains and around the lower Great Lakes into the Mid-Mississippi Valley.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/10/Screenshot 2025-10-10 105635-1760115430383.png"></p><p>This phase also <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.aoml.noaa.gov/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/ENSO_Tornado_Lee.pdf">favors stronger tornadoes</a>, as the number of high end tornadoes and outbreaks increase during this phase.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/10/Screenshot 2025-10-10 100658-1760112433708.png"></p><p>Seasonal forecasts are difficult to predict with accuracy, so be sure to check the weather forecasts often with WeatherNation for the latest.</p>

La Niña Advisory Issued, Potential Impacts to Winter Precip & Springtime Tornadoes

<p>Flash flooding will continue to be possible in the southwestern United States over the next couple of days. Be sure to <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://msc.fema.gov/portal/home">check your property's flood zone</a> and have a plan to seek higher ground if necessary. NEVER drive through flood waters if you cannot easily see the water's depth or the road below it. Multiple water rescues have been needed over the past few days. Remember, you're not only risking your life but the lives of the first responders if you drive into flooded roads.</p><p></p><div class="twitter-tweet" style="display: flex; justify-content: center" data-twitt-post-id="1978098719095406800" src="https://x.com/WeatherNation/status/1978098719095406800"></div><p><br><br>The remnant moisture from the two most recent tropical systems in the Eastern Pacific, Priscilla and Raymond, led to heavy showers and thunderstorms over a wide range of terrain throughout the weekend. And now a trough out west and a ridge out east are helping to funnel moisture into New Mexico and Colorado.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/10/Web1-1760520329985.png"></p><p>In addition to the flood threat, severe storms are possible through Wednesday as the trough moving through the northern Rockies increases wind shear farther south. Damaging wind gusts have been a problem already this week, with places like Tempe clocking 71 mph winds from a microburst.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/10/Web7-1760520445087.png"></p><p>We have seen heavy rain and flooding with these storms, and that threat will continue over the next few days.</p><video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/10/2025-10-15 03-27-44-1760520491582.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video><p>This surge of moisture across the southwest brings forth the chance for excessive rainfall in places like Alamosa, CO all the way down to Santa Fe, NM.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/10/Web3-1760520692663.png"><br>As a result, multiple flood warnings have been issued for several spots near Durango, CO. Some of these areas are near rivers and streams, which in some cases like near Rio Grande, have already seen roughly 8" of rain since the past weekend. This causes these areas to be more prone to flooding once more rain is in the forecast.<br><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/10/Web1-1760521119921.png"><br>We'll be detailing this more live on WeatherNation. <p>Most people who aren't mariners or active beach goers often don't check up on their local high and low tide cycles. But what happens when your favorite dockside restaurant has ankle deep water in the parking lot? That's what we call the King Tide, a phenomenon that occurs once or twice a year along the U.S. coastlines.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/10/Web2-1759748881043.png"></p><p>Caused by what's called a "perigee", that highlights a very close distance between the Earth and the moon. It occurs on a monthly basis. Being that the moon drives the tidal cycles on Earth, it's close proximity elevates the high and low tides, making coastal flooding that much more possible. A "supermoon" is a byproduct of the perigee, occurring three to four times a year. However, the two tend to not overlap for most of Earth's orbit around the sun.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/10/Web6-1759749414059.png"></p><p>We're also slowly trending towards "perihelion", the point in Earth's orbit where it's the closest to the Sun, this in turn will also enhance our tidal cycles. The combination of these three factors is what will bring us the "King Tide".</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/10/Web7-1759750231408.png"></p><p>The combination of these three factors are what influences the "King Tide". The King Tide: How the Tides can Impact Your Coastlines

Alana Cameron was born and raised in Canada in the city of Mississauga, just outside of Toronto. Alana is the oldest of 4 siblings, all close in age, and grew up playing outside with them in all types of weather. After graduating high school, Alana moved to study at the University of British Columbia in Kelowna for a year before transferring to Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia where she completed a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Atmospheric Science. Upon completion, Alana moved back to Toronto where she completed a post-grad degree in Meteorology at York University. After her post-grad, she went on to complete another post-grad in Broadcast Journalism - TV News at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario. During her final year of studies she had the privilege of interning with the best in the business in Canada at The Weather Network. Once she finished her internship, she got the call from small-town Denison, Texas where she accepted a job as an on-air meteorologist at KTEN-TV, right in tornado alley, covering severe weather from Sherman/Denison (North Texas) to Ada (Southern Oklahoma). After the most active tornado season Oklahoma had seen in May 2019 (105 tornadoes!) Alana is excited to join WeatherNation to cover weather all across the nation. <p><strong>NORTH CAROLINA </strong>- These abandoned houses were no match for the powerful swells generated by Humberto and Imelda, which brought high surf, flooding, and heavy rain to the Outer Banks. It is believed that up to 8 homes have succumbed to the Atlantic Ocean in the last few days. </p><div class="twitter-tweet" style="display: flex; justify-content: center" data-twitt-post-id="1973423019470233900" src="https://x.com/WeatherNation/status/1973423019470233900"></div><p>Up until last Tuesday, 12 homes had been swept away into the Atlantic in the Outer Banks since 2020. Why are so many homes being swept away, you may ask? In many cases, what protected a house decades ago is no longer sufficient because the shore has receded, sea levels are higher, and strong storms have been more frequent or powerful.</p><h2>Coastal Impacts</h2><p>Humberto and Imelda dissipated in the Atlantic, but dangerous swells will still be likely in their wake. The American Monsoon season runs from June 15 until September 30, so let's see how the season shaped up.</p><p>The Drought Monitor mid-June had most of the southwestern U.S. under drought conditions, with New Mexico under the worst of the conditions, under exceptional, level 5 drought.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/09/Screenshot 2025-09-30 203810-1759286479364.png">By September 23, the final drought monitor of the season, most of the southwest worsened drought conditions, but the Mojave Desert saw improving conditions, as well as New Mexico, where we needed it.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/09/Screenshot 2025-09-30 203815-1759286732227.png"></p><p>With the rainfall last weekend, Phoenix surpassed the average for the monsoon season, but most of this rain happened in a day. Otherwise, it was more of a non-soon season.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/09/Screenshot 2025-09-30 203836-1759286678352.png">Some spots, like Las Vegas, saw a below-average monsoon season. In fact, this year we tied for the 18th driest monsoon season.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/09/Screenshot 2025-09-30 204800-1759286908942.png">How about looking at the season from a lightning perspective? Including the first ever for the city of Atlanta, GA after 11" of rain. The highest total from the storm topped out above 30" in North Carolina. A precursor event saturated the soils ahead of Helene. The USGS documented that the heavy rain on top of the impacted soils prompted more than 2000 landslides. 63 stream and river gauges exceeded their record flood levels during Helene. 2,700+ water rescues were documented, about half from storm surge and half from fresh water flooding.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2024/09/Screenshot 2024-09-27 160234-1727474573331.jpg"><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/09/Screenshot 2025-09-24 140622-1758744396604.png">According to <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="http://poweroutage.us">poweroutage.us</a>, a total of 7.4 million customers lost power at some point during Helene. <p>The much anticipated cold front to slash temperatures is now moving through the Southeast. Ahead of the front, warm temperatures and plenty of moisture is still available for an isolated severe threat this weekend. For Saturday, the greatest threat will be along the warm front in Georgia and the Carolinas. Biggest threat will be winds and hail. However, an isolated tornado threat could be possible. <img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/1-1762657535739.png"></p><p>Storms should begin to wind down after midnight as storms slide into the Outer Banks of North Carolina. For Sunday, the cold front slices through the Atlantic coast of the Southeast to bring another severe weather threat producing a few reports of winds and hail. Weekend Severe Threat Across the South

<p>Arctic air is set to take a deep dive into the Southern United states. Millions of Americans will be impacted by these cooler temperatures this weekend through next week. This cold outbreak is being driven by a strong upper-level low dipping southward from Canada, allowing frigid polar air to surge into the central and eastern portions of the country. This low will also help to drive multiple cold fronts across the country. There will be widespread subfreezing temperatures overnight, with many regions experiencing daytime highs that will struggle to climb above the freezing mark.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0)">&nbsp;</span></p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-08 072835-1762612121598.jpg"></p><p>In some areas, temperatures could run 20 to 30 degrees below average, especially across the Plains, Midwest, and Great Lakes region.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/1-1762644279960.png"></p><p></p><p>Monday and Tuesday's lows will plummet into the 20s, 30s, and 40s all the way to the Central Gulf Coast States and Florida. Arctic Blast To Bring Freezing Air to Millions of Americans

<p>The lake effect snow season has arrived, with heavy snow expected this weekend and into early next week.<br><br>Watches and advisories have been issued on the southern sides of Lake Superior and Lake Michigan, with alerts around Lakes Erie and Ontario likely to be issued soon as well. Snow in these areas could top 8-12" in some locations, with heavy snowfall rates likely reducing visibility at times, making travel very difficult.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/pic6-1762648212683.png"></p><h1>How Lake Effect Works</h1><p>Water has a much higher heat capacity than air, meaning it takes more time to warm up and cool down. This leads to "mild" water temperatures in the Great Lakes while the air overhead can be much cooler. As the cold, dry air moves over these areas, it's able to evaporate moisture from the lakes until it condenses into clouds and precipitation before falling out over land. Typically, we need at least a 13° F difference between the lake water and the air aloft (around 1500 m, or 4500-5000 ft) for lake effect snow to form. This weekend, the difference will be close to 35-45°!</p><h1><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-08 060323-1762608655882.png"><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-08 060332-1762608670553.png">Forecast</h1><p>Lake effect snow begins to develop late Saturday as the cold air begins to filter farther south with stronger northerly flow. Sunday will see additional lake effect snow develop as the cold continues to spill in, eventually turning mixed rain and snow showers to all snow. As the winds shift slightly from the NNE late Sunday into Monday, Chicago could see some intense lake effect snow drift over downtown from the lakeshore. This is completely dependent on a shortwave around the upper-level low providing those NNE winds, so if that shifts a bit, Chicago may get missed. Other areas more certain to see some heavy accumulations include locations on the SSE sides of the lakes, and on the SE side of Lake Ontario. Winds shift back to the North and NW by Monday, bringing the heavier snow into Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York.</p><video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/New Baron Video 3-1762657390770.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video><p>Impacts to travel can be expected, especially along the I-90 corridor where major impacts are possible in NW Indiana. <p>A system has been bringing snow across the Plains and Midwest on Saturday. This same system will continue to push through the Great Lakes into Sunday morning. Midwest Clipper Brings Light Snow, Gusty Winds

<p>Secondary severe weather season is underway across the U.S. - so called because it <em>typically</em> pales in comparison to the primary severe weather season in the spring. However, the fall can provide high-end severe weather threats of its own, including the December 2021 tornado outbreak.<br><br>Thankfully, the severe weather setup for now through Sunday doesn't look to be on the high-end, but a few scattered severe storms will be possible.</p><hr><h1>Severe Storm Outlooks/Hazards</h1><p>Early morning severe storms will be possible along the cold front driving south. Large hail and damaging winds will be possible with any severe storms and the severe risk should diminish by sunrise.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/PIC 2-1762564233131.jpg"></p><p>The threat for isolated severe storms will continue Saturday into Sunday as the cold front is dragged through the south. Severe Storms Possible from Ohio to the Gulf Coast Friday and Saturday

<p>A series of atmospheric rivers has been responsible for wet, windy, and snowy weather in the northwestern U.S over the last few weeks. Our system is currently moving through Washington, Oregon, and the northern tier of California, bringing heavy rainfall and snow. Above is the forecast rainfall totals for the next several days. Gold Beach in Oregon has already picked up 2.51" of rainfall in the past 24 hours.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Web1-1762440546220.png"></p><p>With multiple inches of rain on the way, the Weather Prediction Center is monitoring coastal areas at a level 1, <strong>MARGINAL</strong>, risk for excessive rainfall that may lead to flash flooding.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-05 095854-1762361963192.png"></p><p></p><h2>Timing</h2><p>Precipitation across the Northwest should continue for the next few hours. Next Big Push of Moisture in the Northwest

<p><strong>NORTHEAST - </strong>The Storm Prediction Center has maintained an overnight <strong>MARGINAL</strong> (level 1 out of 5) risk for severe weather overnight across portions of the northeastern U.S. for a few gusty storms that could reach severe limits as our cold front exits.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/main threattttt-1762392343860.png"></p><h2>Wind + Fire Danger</h2><p>Widespread wind alerts remain in place through Thursday. Some airports have been experiencing delays because of the strong winds. If you have any travel plans, be sure to check for updates and delays.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-05 173942-1762389589730.png"></p><p>Due to some drier conditions further south and the potential for gusty winds, several red flag warnings have been issued. <p>An upper-level low has been moving across the country, bringing rainy, windy, and cooler weather to many areas. Heavy rain caused flooding issues in the Northeast on Thursday where over 3 inches of rain fell in New York and New Jersey. <p>I will never forget the time it snowed in southwest Missouri on Halloween. Going from house to house for as long as we could stand it before piling back in the car because we were so cold. We're concerned with some areas in the Northwest, like Seattle, where the rain might be both consistent and heavy at times. There is also a red flag warning for these regions too. Strong Winds, Temperature Changes, and Severe Storms

<p><strong>LOS ANGELES </strong>- On Tuesday, temperatures in LA rose to record territory with a temperature of 97 degrees, which beats out the old record for October 28th of 94 in 1931. What's causing this heat? The Santa Ana winds have returned. In addition to LA, Oxnard, and Idyllwild also broke record highs on Tuesday afternoon.</p><h2><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/10/Screenshot 2025-10-28 201221-1761703950133.png">Santa Ana Winds</h2><p>Whenever we have high-pressure systems out in the West Coast, the possibility of a Santa Ana wind setup becomes likely. The NWS in Los Angeles warns critical fire danger is likely on Wednesday because of low humidity, gusty winds, and high heat.</p><div class="twitter-tweet" style="display: flex; justify-content: center" data-twitt-post-id="1983224741319065651" src="https://x.com/NWSLosAngeles/status/1983224741319065651"></div><p></p><video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/10/2025-10-28 04-47-51-1761648488737.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video><p><br>During this phenomenon, winds head westward due to the high pressure's clockwise motion. These winds will pass over the dry, desert region of the southwest and head west through the mountain passages in Southern California. During their descent, the air compresses, causing their temperatures to rise.</p><video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/10/2025-10-28 04-53-29-1761648822406.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video><p></p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/10/Web1-1761648886403.png"></p><p>These winds are expected to bring well above-average temperatures for Southern California. In some spots, we can expect temperatures that are close to 15 degrees above average. Santa Ana Setup Bringing the Heat into Southern California

<p>Slow-moving train thunderstorms produced extreme rainfall across portions of Central Florida on Sunday, triggering a flash-flood emergency in Lake County. Flash Flood Emergency Triggered Sunday in Florida

<p><strong>GAUTIER, MS</strong> - Earlier Sunday morning, tornado warnings swept through the Gulf Coast, and this person was caught in the debris of the tornado in Mississippi. The severe threat continues through tonight across the Gulf Coast as this frontal boundary keeps moving through.</p><div class="twitter-tweet" style="display: flex; justify-content: center" data-twitt-post-id="1982498399602786785" src="https://x.com/WeatherNation/status/1982498399602786785"></div><p></p><p>According to the National Weather Service in New Orleans, a survey team will be heading out on Monday morning to survey the damage that Sunday morning's storms brought. The NWS has also encouraged anyone in the region to send over their reports to help with their surveys as well.</p><div class="twitter-tweet" style="display: flex; justify-content: center" data-twitt-post-id="1982508518684209425" src="https://x.com/NWSNewOrleans/status/1982508518684209425"></div><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/10/Screenshot 2025-10-26 163627-1761518716166.png">Most of the storms from Sunday sat along a warm front and remained as supercells. Taban Sharifi grew up in Southern California between Los Angeles and San Diego. She is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) with the American Meteorological Society (AMS). She has a B.S. in Atmospheric, Oceanic, and Environmental Sciences with a minor in Environmental Systems and Society from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Go Bruins! While in school, Taban was a meteorology intern with NBC LA. There she helped forecast daily weather for the greater Los Angeles region and created a playbook to deploy weather sensors for NBC owned-and-operated stations across the country. Her first on-air job took her to San Angelo, Texas, where she was a morning meteorologist and co-anchor. Working in West Texas gave her knowledge and experience covering severe storms. From there, she moved to Palm Springs, California. People think forecasting in California is sunshine all the time, but with temperatures in the 120’s, wildfires, damaging winds, floodings, and earthquakes, the forecasting kept her very busy! She also worked there as a general assignment reporter and told community stories. Taban is excited for the challenge and opportunity to forecast nationally with WeatherNation. She also looks forward to exploring all that Colorado has to offer!

<p><strong>GREAT LAKES </strong>- A large trough has been moving over the northern U.S. since early this week, bringing along with it gusty winds, scattered showers, and cooler temperatures.</p><p>As the upper-level trough and surface front move over the Great Lakes, they'll continue to usher in cooler air above warmer sea surface temperatures. The contrast between the two can enhance lake-effect showers. It's not quite cold enough for lake-effect snow with this system.
