Rob grew up in South Florida, where daily afternoon storms and hurricanes piqued his interest in meteorology early on. That interest was fostered by his teachers and his father, who one time brought him onto the roof of their home to watch a funnel cloud move through the Everglades several miles away. Years of filmmaking and tv production in high school gradually pushed him toward broadcast meteorology at Florida State University, where he joined and eventually led the student run daily weather show. After graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Meteorology, he began his career at KESQ in Palm Springs, California before heading to KFSN in Fresno and WLOS in Asheville, North Carolina. He has covered a diverse array of extreme weather events, including haboobs and flash flooding in the desert, extreme snow in the Sierra, hurricanes, and Appalachian ice storms. He also enjoys telling stories and reporting about weather issues.

Over 20 inches of snowfall has accumulated across areas in the Northeast, bringing down trees and power lines. Over 100,000 households were still without power in NY and PA as of Saturday morning.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2024/11/1-1732333201612.png">High Point New Jersey reported the most snow, topping 20 inches! Unfortunately this fell on many trees that still had leaves, causing branches to come down.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2024/11/1-1732333319247.png">Winter storm alerts have been discontinued for all except along the spine of the mountains in West Virginia, where blizzard conditions are expected to taper off by the early afternoon. <img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2024/11/Screenshot 2024-11-23 065614-1732370281063.png">Heavy rain is the primary concern on Saturday as the low moves up the coast. Isolated flooding is possible but is not expected to pose a significant threat. The state of Alabama is prone to seeing various types of weather from severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, hurricanes, and winter weather. Winds in the Pacific Northwest have been howling thanks to a bomb cyclone that brought hurricane force winds to the area on Tuesday. The winds topped over 75 mph in the state of Washington, topping over trees, and knocking out power to over half a million households. Over 80,000 households were still without power as of Saturday morning, mostly around the King County area.Winds are not expected to be as strong as this time like they were with the previous round, but with trees and branches already damaged could easily fall, and additional power outages are possible. The low will gradually push inland into Saturday, helping to bring down snow levels as the cold front arrives, in addition to sending rain and snow east across the Northern Rockies. New alerts have been issued in Montana, Idaho, and now Utah.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2024/11/Screenshot 2024-11-23 070435-1732370690805.png">Throughout the weekend, the forecast calls for more rounds of snow and rain depending on your elevation. The weekend will not be a washout but if you plan to travel roads are going to be slick. Unsettled Pattern Continues Across the Northwest

An intense mid-latitude cyclone has been targeting the West Coast of the United States this week, ushering a strong atmospheric river into Oregon and California. This low-pressure system underwent bombogenesis, or it "bombed out," a term reserved for low-pressure systems that intensify rapidly, typically with a pressure drop of at least 24mb in 24 hours. This storm system more than doubled that pressure drop, going from over 1000 mb to about 945 mb in 24 hours! This intense storm system is finally winding down, but snow and rain will linger in the region.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2024/11/Day1SVR-1732335647681.png">The heaviest rain and snow will be tapering off Saturday morning into the afternoon, but scattered rain and snow showers will continue, with another round or two of rain and snow through the first half of the upcoming week.<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2024/11/2024-11-23 07-08-56-1732370978408.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video>Rainfall is expected to be heavy through Saturday mnorning, with an additional 1-3" falling with locally heavier totals. Flooding, including river flooding and flash flooding, is possible in these areas. Originally born in Spokane, Washington,  Jackie's Dad was in the Air Force which led her to a life of travel. She has lived in Wichita, Okinawa, Japan, Baltimore, New Jersey, Indiana and South Carolina.  After graduating from Kadena High School, in Okinawa Japan, she got a full basketball scholarship to Coppin State College. On the court she was a 4-year starter and reached over 1000 points in her basketball career. She was also named Athlete of the Year for the whole university in 2002. Off the court, she earned a degree in Broadcast Production/English.

After college, she landed a job as a radio personality. Jackie went on to have a successful career for 12 years working at KXLY broadcast center. While on the radio, she decided to change career. Jackie went back to school, graduating from the Mississippi State Meteorology Broadcast Program. From snow, to tornadoes, to hurricanes, she has had experience forecasting all these events.

<h1>WHAT TO EXPECT</h1>An area of low pressure that brought severe storms earlier in the week will now dip back down to the south and continue to bring snow and rain across portions of the northern plains and the midwest. This system has brought between 6 and 12 inches in the Dakotas in the last 24 hours. This low is moving south and the snow chances will follow it! Things will get busy as this low will combine with another low coming out of Canada. Snow will continue to spread through Michigan and Wisconsin tonight and into Thursday as it works south and east.<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2024/11/OVEJFKFL-1732152287574.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video>Winter weather advisories (purple) have been issued for South Dakota, a small portion of Minnesota, and Western Wisconsin. 1-3 inches of additional snow will be possible, (with localized heavier amounts). Another impact we have been seeing is wind gusts, gusts can reach up to 50 mph through tomorrow morning.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2024/11/WINT-1732152343874.png">Once this system moves to the east, drier conditions will be in place. Soaking Rain then Snow for the Northern Plains

What's leftover of the moisture from (what was) Sara has drifted across the Gulf of Mexico. That will meet up with a frontal boundary that is sliding east across the I-10 towards the middle of this week. Though we saw a chance of strong storms early on in the day, we have lost a lot of instability for the southeast, and therefore the Storm Prediction Center has downgraded the severe threat. The severe threat has been dropped, and we now see a general risk of thunderstorms today through the southeast. Heavy rainfall will still be a concern for this portion of the country.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2024/11/generl-1732049532101.png">As the frontal boundary moves to the east, heavy rainfall can be embedded within some of the storms. On top of already saturated soils, an additional 2 to 3 inches could overwhelm the grounds. A digging trough from the northwest will work through California to increase snow chances for the Sierra. Winter Weather Advisories have now been issued for the high country for up to a foot of snow. The winds will be strong along with the snow chances, and travel could be difficult along some mountain passes. More winter alerts could be added to this map as the event unfolds.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2024/11/Screenshot 2024-11-15 081841-1731683953697.png">Throughout Thursday, the precipitation will start to increase from north to south. On Friday as the cutoff low lingers, more rain and snow is likely across the Sierra spilling over into Nevada and Utah. Fire alerts have been discontinued in the Northeast, but there still remains special weather statements for this area, with winds coming out of the North at 5 -15 mph. Breezy conditions with low humidity values across the region will still keep the fire weather concerns heighten.Fires continue to burn across portions of the area, including the Jennings Creek Fire. Here, over 2,000 acres have burned.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2024/11/1-1731556550585.png">Even after some rainfall in the last few days, vegetation remains very dry, with drought conditions continuing to worsen.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2024/11/Screenshot 2024-11-11 172014-1731370817332.png">Models are depicting more moisture returning to the area, with relief from elevated fire conditions on the way. This looks to be focused into the end of the week. Beneficial Rainfall on the Way for the Northeast

There is a marginal risk for severe overnight including the cities of Mobile and Pensacola. As a cold front moves through a few storms can be strong to severe with an isolated tornado threat. <img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2024/11/sffl-1731557230412.png">Damaging winds and a tornado or two are the biggest concerns with this round of severe weather overnight, make sure to have multiple ways to get alerts.While the tornado threat with these storms is low, it's not zero - have a way to receive warnings throughout the night! Or download our app to take any potential severe weather alerts with you.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2024/11/overnightttt-1731557324397.png">The line of storms will continue to push east through the overnight hours. Since soils are so saturated, the flooding risk might be the easiest one to come by with this system. Some areas could see another 2-3 inches of rain, continuing the flooding threat down south.

As of Thursday night, this fire has now burned over 20k+ acres and has threatened numerous structures, with little containment. The <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.gov.ca.gov/2024/11/06/california-secures-federal-assistance-to-support-response-to-mountain-fire/">Governor of California has approved FEMA </a>to help ensure resources to Ventura County for this fire.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2024/11/Web 12-1731432829752.png">FEMA is assisting the area devastated on the West Coast by this most recent wildfire. Over 130 homes have been destroyed with another 7,000 being threatened still. Evacuation Orders are still in effect for the area. The same are is facing some Elevated Fire Weather conditions as a front moves through. Winds will kick up, but not nearly to the extent we saw last week.<div class="twitter-tweet" style="display: flex; justify-content: center" data-twitt-post-id="1856386974967574687" src="https://x.com/VCFD_PIO/status/1856386974967574687"></div>Wind Advisory for portions of the LA Metro, including Ventura County<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2024/11/Web 10 -1731433570090.png">Dry conditions and gusty winds will allow wildfires to rapidly grow in size and intensity. Outdoor burning is not recommended. In this type of situation gusts up to 60 mph will be possible. A low-pressure center works across the Great Lakes today, tapping into a little moisture from an adjacent low to the east rain and snow won't be headline makers for this system. COLORADO— The record-breaking snowstorm event of New Mexico and Colorado has come to an end. The numbers have been tallied and Denver International Airport picked up 20" of snow! Here are a few tidbits on this event! This event was the third biggest November snowstorm since 1983. In addition, the recent snowstorm is now the 11th biggest snowfall event on record! <img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2024/11/1-1731194100104.png">As we examine other locations in the Southwest, the top location of snow was San Isabel, CO with seeing 54.9" of snow! Historic November Snow Storm Ends in the Rockies

Widespread flash flooding developed in Louisiana on Saturday, thanks to a slowly moving frontal system that is pulling moisture north from Tropical Storm Rafael. Rain totals surpassed 6 inches to kick off the weekend, leading to numerous Flash Flood Warnings. <img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2024/11/Screenshot 2024-11-09 050141-1731153718097.png">As Rafael continues to spin in the western Gulf, it will send rounds of moisture north across the lower Mississippi Valley through this weekend before it drops south on Monday and the moisture flow is cut off. The threat of severe weather continues this Friday. Thunderstorms capable of producing a few tornadoes will be possible. The Storm Prediction Center has issued a marginal risk (level 1), as damaging winds and isolated hail will also be possible.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2024/11/PIC 1-1731119701179.jpg">For the rest of Friday night, we will see some scattered thunderstorms continue into areas of East Texas. NORTHEAST - It's been a warm stretch of weather for the northeastern U.S. However, we've had our ups and downs, this first week of November has been above average for the northeastern U.S. Temperatures 10-20°+ above average will continue through Wednesday across the Middle Atlantic to the Northeast.
