SOUTHWEST - Last week the southwestern U.S. received lots of strong thunderstorms thanks to daytime heating and abundant moisture wrapping around this upper-level high, however, drier air has moved into the Four Corners behind this high to slow down some storms and enhance wildfire danger.
On Sunday records were broken across Arizona including Phoenix yet again.
Heat alerts remain in place through tonight for portions of Arizona, southern California, New Mexico, and Texas.
As we head into Wednesday through the end of the week high temperatures will still be hot, but we'll stay closer to seasonable averages.
The Four Corners region remains under fire weather alerts including Red Flag Warnings through Tuesday. Windy conditions and dry fuels will help create an environment favorable for wildfires to get out of control! Be sure to avoid campfires and outdoor burning.
