<p><strong>TEXAS -</strong> It was another hot November day across the state of Texas, where numerous record high temperatures have fallen in recent days. Brownsville went soaring above the 90-degree mark on Monday - for comparison, they normally stop seeing if after October 21st!</p><h1><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-17 165930-1763423976658.png"><strong>Southern Plains</strong></h1><p>Although Texas is no stranger to heat, temperatures will feel more like summer, with some locales reaching high temperatures 15-20°+ above average!</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-17 130107-1763409709222.png"></p><h1>Southeast</h1><p>As the ridge migrates further east later this week, places like Tennessee and North Carolina will get a bump to their afternoon highs. Record Heat Continues This Week

<p>The next few days are going to be really nice with above-average temperatures across the Central and Southern Plains. Highs are expected to creep into the 80s-90s. Our next system is spinning through the Four Corners today but will emerge into the plains Wednesday. Storms will erupt into the afternoon and quickly increase in coverage and severity as we tap into daytime heating and humidity.</p><video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/11-17 rsc-1763434708733.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video><p>The Storm Prediction Center has issued a <strong>MARGINAL</strong> (level 1 out of 5) risk for severe storms on Wednesday in portions of West Texas and into the Red River Valley of Oklahoma. The primary concern is large hail but a few damaging wind gusts can't be ruled out at this point.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-18 104228-1763487761582.png">There are a few things that might hinder the severity of these storms. Questionable timing on the storms could keep them from reaching their full potential. Since storms could hold off until after sunset, the window to tap into the unstable air that builds up during the day could be narrow. One ingredient we know we have plenty of is moisture.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-17 195844-1763434731442.png"></p><p>The Weather Prediction Center has also issued <strong>excessive rainfall outlooks</strong> starting Wednesday and continuing through the end of the week. The most concern for flash flooding will be on Thursday, when the second big push of widespread storms will move through.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-18 101208-1763485939574.png">But will that second batch of storms be severe? That's a bit up in the air still. Since storms will likely survive overnight, it will depend on how strong those are. If they are strong in the morning, an afternoon severe threat will be limited. Active Pattern Developing Across the Central U.S. This Week

<p>Intense rain and wind began impacting California again on Thursday and continued throughout the weekend as a strong Pacific trough began moving inland. Flooding reports and landslides have been reported across the entire state over the last few days after some places received more than six inches of rain!</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-17 082640-1763393207828.png"></p><p>Fortunately, the worst should be behind California. As the system treks east however, the excessive rainfall outlook will follow. The biggest concern lies in cities like Lake Havasu City, for the slight risk for flash flooding.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Web1-1763465260933.png"></p><h1>Timing</h1><p>The frontal boundary has pushed onshore and will start to moves east before being pulled back towards California through Tuesday. Unsettled Weather Continues in California Nevada

Alana Cameron was born and raised in Canada in the city of Mississauga, just outside of Toronto. Alana is the oldest of 4 siblings, all close in age, and grew up playing outside with them in all types of weather. After graduating high school, Alana moved to study at the University of British Columbia in Kelowna for a year before transferring to Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia where she completed a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Atmospheric Science. Upon completion, Alana moved back to Toronto where she completed a post-grad degree in Meteorology at York University. After her post-grad, she went on to complete another post-grad in Broadcast Journalism - TV News at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario. During her final year of studies she had the privilege of interning with the best in the business in Canada at The Weather Network. Once she finished her internship, she got the call from small-town Denison, Texas where she accepted a job as an on-air meteorologist at KTEN-TV, right in tornado alley, covering severe weather from Sherman/Denison (North Texas) to Ada (Southern Oklahoma). After the most active tornado season Oklahoma had seen in May 2019 (105 tornadoes!) Alana is excited to join WeatherNation to cover weather all across the nation. <p>Snow chances, a rain/snow mix, and even severe storms are all in the forecast as our next upper-level low tracks from the Northern Plains into the Ohio Valley.</p><h2>Ohio Valley</h2><p>As the low shifts east on Tuesday, the SPC maintains a <strong>MARGINAL </strong>risk for severe weather along the same warm front across parts of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee. Most storms should be hail-producers, but an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Web1-1763464930404.png"></p><p>Here's a look at the timing, some of these storms will be ongoing from Monday night's weather, it's the same system moving through after all. As we start to run into more daytime heating Tuesday, the severe risk is focused on the areas highlighted above.</p><video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/2025-11-18 04-22-34-1763464979913.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video><p>The National Weather Service has also issued <strong>winter weather advisories</strong> across portions of Ohio, West Virginia, and Kentucky through Tuesday morning for the potential of light icing.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/we2-1763465021376.png"></p><p>With temperatures hovering near freezing, expect a widespread rain/snow mix (“the pink” on forecast maps). Northern Plains to the Northeast: Severe Storms, Snow, and a Wintry Mix

<p>It is that time of year again—when millions of Americans hit the road or the skies to connect with friends and family. AAA is expecting a record number of travelers this year, a number surpassing a record-breaking 2024! Most travelers will hit the road vs flying.</p><div data-youtube-video=""><iframe width="640" height="480" allowfullscreen="false" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/o78PUXSJCJU" start="0"></iframe></div><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-17 104347-1763401813998.png">With millions hitting the roads, traffic will be hard to avoid, no matter where you are heading. However, there will be some better times to do your traveling. AAA suggests starting the journey early but with a reasonable night of sleep the night prior.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-17 105052-1763401888415.png">With so many traveling over the holidays, there are some favored destinations. A Record Breaking Thanksgiving Travel Week Expected

<h1><strong>OVERNIGHT</strong></h1><p><strong>Winter weather alerts </strong>remain in place for heavy snow in northern Maine, mixed snow and ice from northern New York through New Hampshire, and even lake effect snow warnings for western Pennsylvania. These alerts will remain in place through Monday.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Web1-1763375387255.png"></p><p>Snow will be possible overnight and into Monday, with a few lake-effect bands possible. With photos and videos prove that skygaziers are spotting them much farther south in the United States and Europe over the last two years. It begs the question...Why are we seeing these geomagnetic storms that are far more reaching than normal?</p><p>The reason? The sun is undergoing a dramatic magnetic shift. Every 11 years, its poles reverse, creating intense magnetic twists and disturbances that fuel these vivid light shows.</p><p>Aurora lovers, rejoice! The Space Weather Prediction Center correctly said Tuesday, November 11th, that aurora chances could be seen as far south as Alabama and California. Space weather forecasters predict more dazzling displays AGAIN Wednesday night into Thursday.</p><div class="twitter-tweet" style="display: flex; justify-content: center" data-twitt-post-id="1988725181372629334" src="https://x.com/NWSSWPC/status/1988725181372629334"></div><p>ANOTHER coronal mass ejection (CME) is expected to arrive at and impact the Earth with the potential for elevated geomagnetic response, AKA: more auroras. As of 1 pm ET on November 12th, the SWPC issued a Geomagnetic Storm Watch of G4 or higher, the same alert level issued for Tuesday night into Wednesday!</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-12 112939-1762972276799.png"></p><h3><strong>THE FORECAST:</strong></h3><p><strong>Timing with the arrival of CMEs and their corresponding aurora is difficult to forecast, but this is the latest outlook from the Space Weather Prediction Center (released around midday Wednesday) for Wednesday night.
