WEST - A series of atmospheric rivers have been responsible for wet, windy, and snowy weather in the northwestern U.S over the last few weeks. The next round of rain and snow is taking shape as our next river pushes in. Some areas that received the most recent rainfall picked up a few inches heading into this weekend.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Web1-1762163971054.png">Our next system is gathering moisture and will work onshore early this week, bringing back more chances for rain and snow. Here's how much we might be in for over the next few days (below). Wednesday looks to be the day with the most widespread rain, which could lead to a renewed round of flooding. Parts of the northern Cascades could receive a foot or more of snow on the highest peaks. <img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Web1-1762164010453.png">With multiple inches of rain on the way, the Weather Prediction Center is already monitoring coastal areas. Starting on Tuesday, the threat for flash flooding will return. Rob grew up in South Florida, where daily afternoon storms and hurricanes piqued his interest in meteorology early on. That interest was fostered by his teachers and his father, who one time brought him onto the roof of their home to watch a funnel cloud move through the Everglades several miles away. Years of filmmaking and tv production in high school gradually pushed him toward broadcast meteorology at Florida State University, where he joined and eventually led the student run daily weather show. After graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Meteorology, he began his career at KESQ in Palm Springs, California before heading to KFSN in Fresno and WLOS in Asheville, North Carolina. He has covered a diverse array of extreme weather events, including haboobs and flash flooding in the desert, extreme snow in the Sierra, hurricanes, and Appalachian ice storms. He also enjoys telling stories and reporting about weather issues.

We're well on our way to winter, but high temperatures will be soaring across the Western and Central United States to start the month of November. Upper-level ridging is shifting east across the Southwest this weekend before settling over the Southern Plains during the work week. Numerous high temperature records fell on Sunday across portions of Nebraska and Colorado. Denver hit a monthly record high of 83°.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Web1-1762163276657.png">We're well on our way to winter, but high temperatures will soar across the Western and Central United States to start November. Upper-level ridging is expected to build across the Southwest before shifting slightly east into this week.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Web1-1762163313768.png">A few record highs will be possible in Colorado and Texas into Monday and Tuesday.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Web1-1762163342955.png">Looking into the weeks ahead, another ridge is likely to continue to bring high heat across the lower 48. Record Warmth Possible From Nevada to Texas

Coastal areas will be dealing with intrusions of ocean water, known as coastal flooding, during the week ahead with the return of king tides!<h2>What is a "king tide?"</h2>When the gravitational pull of the sun and moon are both higher than normal, high and low tides become more pronounced, leading to flooding during high tide and potentially low water issues during the low tides.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-02 051621-1762088418982.png">This happens most often from the fall through the spring as the sun's gravitational pull on the earth is the strongest. Despite winter conditions in North America, the sun is actually closest to the earth in early January.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-02 051520-1762088418986.png"> King tides are most pronounced when the moon is at its closest point to the Earth in its orbit, which is known as perigee. This is happening at the same time as the full moon for both November and December, creating what's known as a supermoon. During these supermoon events, the moon will be about 14,000 miles closer to the Earth than normal!<h2><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-02 060337-1762088634156.png">November King Tides</h2>King tides will be ramping up throughout the week ahead. Note how much the tidal range grows in Charleston from now through Wednesday, increasing from about 6 feet to over 7 feet by Wednesday!<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-02 152938-1762122601054.png">Tides near Miami (Virginia Key below) will also increase this week, increasing from about 2 feet to 3 feet!<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-02 153031-1762122636373.png">Coastal flood alerts will likely be issued as we get closer to the mid-week timeframe, so be sure to check your high tide times locally and avoid areas near the coast during those times. An upper-level low has been moving across the country, bringing rainy, windy, and cooler weather to many areas. Heavy rain caused flooding issues in the Northeast on Thursday where over 3 inches of rain fell in New York and New Jersey. I will never forget the time it snowed in southwest Missouri on Halloween. Going from house to house for as long as we could stand it before piling back in the car because we were so cold. It doesn't USUALLY snow that early in Springfield, or any other part of the country for that matter this early into Fall.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/10/Screenshot 2025-10-27 111421-1761585271271.png">So let's see if Mother Nature is feeling in the mood to traumatize more youth this upcoming weekend.<h1>Forecast</h1><video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/10/2025-10-31 06-01-58-1761912346800.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video>Low-pressure systems will create some heavy rain in the corners of the country with some drizzle in the Midwest. Clear and dry conditions will persist for much of the country with mild temperatures for many.<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/10/2025-10-31 06-02-14-1761912160076.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video><h1>TROUBLE SPOTS</h1>"Trouble" means a lot of different things for people on Halloween. Trouble, to us, is going to mean rain. Not much worse than spending all of that time and energy into a costume just to get rained on. While you might see some rain icons in the forecast in the northeast, there's a strong possibility we kick the rain out by the afternoon/evening, when it matters, except for portions of northern New York and Vermont. We're concerned with some areas in the Northwest, like Seattle, where the rain might be both consistent and heavy at times. Get ready for below-average temperatures, bitterly cold wind chills, and more snow in the upper Midwest! A clipper system will continue to bring snow and gusty conditions into the upcoming week.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2023/02/clipper alert-1676845891871.JPG">As this will be a typical quick-moving clipper, snow accumulations will not be overly impressive. However, a few areas in northern Minnesota and the UP of Michigan could close in on nearly half a foot.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2023/02/Screenshot 2023-02-19 202903-1676863757162.png">However, the snow mixed with the blustery winds will bring minor to moderate impacts, meaning travel will likely be difficult and impacts on everyday life will likely be felt, especially in northern Wisconsin and the UP of Michigan. <img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2023/02/Screenshot 2023-02-19 202943-1676863795523.png">Gusty winds will be noticeable as wind chill temperatures will be freezing!
