A series of low pressure systems will continue to bring cold, northwesterly flow to the Great Lakes through the weekend. As a weak low moves through on Sunday, snow showers will be slightly more widespread.
Winter weather advisories are in effect for northern Michigan on Saturday, with alerts, including a lake effect snow warning, continuing through Sunday in western New York.
Saturday will see lake effect snow as the chilly Canadian air moves over the warmer, mostly unfrozen, Great Lakes. Lake enhanced snow continues on and off through Sunday night, with some snow lingering into early Monday in northern New England. Snow totals (top of page) through the weekend could top 6-10 inches where lake effect snow bands develop and in higher elevations. Otherwise, most areas are expecting lighter totals, generally a dusting to 2 inches.
