A cold night is ahead in the Southeast as temperatures plummet into the 20s and 30s. With the potential for frost and a freeze, alerts have been issued in parts of South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi. A strong area of high pressure in Texas is aiding in sweeping colder temperatures to the region with north and northwesterly winds. A trough is bringing some clouds to the area this afternoon, but behind the disturbance, the sky will clear. This will help temperatures drop fast as the wind decreases, bringing frosty conditions to the region. For WeatherNation: Meteorologist Mace Michaels
