Rob grew up in South Florida, where daily afternoon storms and hurricanes piqued his interest in meteorology early on. That interest was fostered by his teachers and his father, who one time brought him onto the roof of their home to watch a funnel cloud move through the Everglades several miles away. Years of filmmaking and tv production in high school gradually pushed him toward broadcast meteorology at Florida State University, where he joined and eventually led the student run daily weather show. After graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Meteorology, he began his career at KESQ in Palm Springs, California before heading to KFSN in Fresno and WLOS in Asheville, North Carolina. He has covered a diverse array of extreme weather events, including haboobs and flash flooding in the desert, extreme snow in the Sierra, hurricanes, and Appalachian ice storms. He also enjoys telling stories and reporting about weather issues.

CALIFORNIA - Despite recent storm systems, California's snowpack remains below average (about 83% of average to date). Severe storms and flood potential return to the South this weekend, thanks to a developing low-pressure system that will drop across the Plains late Friday. As the low taps into a building warm sector, severe storms will be possible as early as late Friday night. The severe weather threat continues through Saturday farther south and east along the Gulf Coast. <img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/03/Screenshot 2025-03-06 051619-1741263544255.png">The Storm Prediction Center is highlighting the Southern Plains and Lower Mississippi Valley for isolated severe storms on Saturday. All severe weather threats look possible (hail, wind, and tornadoes), but check back in on the forecast to get specific details about hazards and timing as the event gets closer.<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/03/2025-03-06 05-27-54-1741264362244.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video>Storm activity will ramp up late Friday night, which could lead to a Friday outlook from the SPC, near the I-20 corridor before the threat shifts south into Saturday. Heavy rain and strong storms are expected through Saturday afternoon and evening, with conditions improving into Sunday.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/03/1-1741292089184.png">The heaviest rain is expected from Mobile to the east along the I-10 corridor where isolated flooding is possible Saturday into Sunday.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/03/Screenshot 2025-03-06 183831-1741311517901.png">As the precipitation is pulled into cold air Sunday morning, a light round of wintry precipitation is possible from Tennessee into the Carolinas, with favored locations in the mountains of Western North Carolina. The next storm system has moved into Utah and Colorado with powerful jet stream support, and the orographic flow across the Wasatch looks significant. Wondering what orographic flow is?Orographic flow is the movement of air that is forced to rise or sink due to the topography of the land. In this case, this will amplify snowfall totals for the Wasatch Range.In the Wasatch, grand totals will be in feet. In general, expect 1-3 feet by early morning Friday. Special note, this storm system will likely push Alta, UT over the 400-inch mark for the season so far.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/03/Screenshot 2025-03-06 182342-1741310645032.png"><h1>Forecast Timing:</h1>The heaviest of the snow overnight and into Friday will fall across Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado before the system completely out into the Plains. However, the main energy of an upper-level low will dig into Arizona and New Mexico, bringing the possibility of heavy rain and snow through Friday and into the weekend. The transition from Winter to Spring is often very windy and the next few days will be no exception. Where dry conditions exist, especially where drought is in place, fire danger will increase.<h1>Florida</h1> As a cold front exits the east coast on Thursday, dry and breezy conditions are leading to elevated fire danger in Florida, especially in Central Florida, where Red Flag Warnings are in effect (top of page). Winds are expected to be sustained around 15 - 25 mph this afternoon with stronger gusts.<h1><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/03/Screenshot 2025-03-06 062354-1741267442699.png"> Southwest</h1>Coming off the heels of the critical fire threat in Texas and the Southwest earlier this week, the forecast shows another round of fire danger starting up on Thursday and continuing into Saturday. Another developing low will move from California into the Rockies before ejecting out into the Plains by the end of the week. Fire weather watches and warnings are up again for parts of West Texas and New Mexico.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/03/1-1741292488816.png">Winds will be quite strong, particularly in the afternoons through Saturday as multiple low pressure systems move from the mountains to the east.<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/03/Baron 2-1741292570626.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video>Moisture is much needed in this part of the country. However, drought continues to build in the Southwest, especially locations along the Rio Grande and Mexican border. As normal, try to avoid anything that can cause a spark for the end of the work week. A powerful winter storm that brought tornadoes to the South and 9.5" of snowfall to Minnesota, is now making its exit off into the Atlantic. The low pressure system that is associated with this storm has moved into Canada. However, the rain and the snow is not done just yet. On the back side of the low, snow will move through cities like Cleveland and Pittsburgh through the into the morning.<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/03/2025-03-06 07-04-37-1741269952975.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video>Several inches of lake-enhanced snowfall is possible across the Great Lakes and the central and northern Appalachians Thursday and Friday. Elsewhere, expect at least 1"-3" of snowfall with less than an inch of rain. Additional snowfall totals can get as high as 12" over Maine. <img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/03/Screenshot 2025-03-06 070606-1741269990174.png">Gusty winds are also expected behind this system as it moves off the coast. The state of Alabama is prone to seeing various types of weather from severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, hurricanes, and winter weather. For college, Jesse attended the University of South Alabama where he received his degree in Broadcast Meteorology along with minors in Math and Geography. From Alabama, Jesse started his broadcast television working three years at KAVU-TV in Victoria. Recently, he finished a stint in Shreveport, LA. A Colorado low has moved from the Plains and Upper Midwest now into the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley. This system was responsible for causing blizzard conditions. Winter weather alerts remain in effect within these winter weather alerts, we have Blizzard Warnings (in red).As the low-pressure center is moving eastward, the snow is winding down from west to east. In Minnesota, the snowstorm dumped over a foot of snow in some locations.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/03/1-1741201825908.png">For the rest of Wednesday into the early hours of Thursday morning, the heaviest snow will fall across the Great Lakes region. However, we could see some light snow in the Ohio Valley and Appalachian mountains as the upper-level low passes east.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/03/Screenshot 2025-03-05 141528-1741209337477.jpg"><h2>Forecast Timing</h2>The strong winds, snow, and rain keep pushing east throughout the day from the Great Lakes into the Northeast. The strong low-pressure system will exit off the coast by Thursday morning with some light lake-effect snow over Lake Erie and Ontario.<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/03/Baron 2-1741232755793.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video><h2></h2><h2>Next System</h2>Another Colorado low is expected to move back into the north-central United States on Thursday to bring us our next chance of snowfall. Well above-average temperatures will continue to dominate the central and southern United States. Temperatures were a tad bit cooler in the Upper Midwest. Saturday, more records fell across parts of the West.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/03/1-1740887820000.png">Temperatures further east into the Plains have been anomalously warm as well. Spring-Like Temperatures for Now, Colder Air Ahead

Originally born in Spokane, Washington,  Jackie's Dad was in the Air Force which led her to a life of travel. She has lived in Wichita, Okinawa, Japan, Baltimore, New Jersey, Indiana and South Carolina.  After graduating from Kadena High School, in Okinawa Japan, she got a full basketball scholarship to Coppin State College. On the court she was a 4-year starter and reached over 1000 points in her basketball career. She was also named Athlete of the Year for the whole university in 2002. Off the court, she earned a degree in Broadcast Production/English.

After college, she landed a job as a radio personality. Jackie went on to have a successful career for 12 years working at KXLY broadcast center. While on the radio, she decided to change career. Jackie went back to school, graduating from the Mississippi State Meteorology Broadcast Program. From snow, to tornadoes, to hurricanes, she has had experience forecasting all these events.

We have had severe storms move through the Carolinas today bringing gusty winds, hail, and even tornado warned storms. Lake City, South Carolina saw hailstones up to 1.50". Tonight, we have a marginal risk for a few severe storms with damaging winds and hail being the primary concern. The storms will continue to die down tonight as the system moves off-shore. Isolated storms will be possible through the evening hours.<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2024/05/few storms leftr-1715823298407.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video>Any storms that develop may have a few heavy downpours but overall an isolated inch to a quarter of an inch of rain will be possible.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2024/05/rainfall totals -1715823424695.png">As we look ahead we will see a brief lull in any activity for the Carolinas on Thursday.
