Heavy snow has been falling in New England and along the lake effect belts in the Northeast over the last 24 hours as a storm system moves through the region. Winter weather alerts extend from Maine to Pennsylvania as several additional inches will accumulate through the day (Thursday). A low pressure center will move along the coast and into the Atlantic Ocean through the afternoon and evening. Along with heavy snow, strong wind gusts up to 50 mph will produce low visibility with areas of blowing and drifting snow. Snow will diminish later tonight as the low moves away from New England. WeatherNation will keep you updated on-air and online as snow continues to fall.
