Sunshine will be replaced with clouds and rain showers for the eastern United States over the next couple of days. While the Northeast will remain dry and sunny on Friday, rainfall is expected to move through parts of the Midwest and South.
By Friday night, showers will continue to move east into the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley. Showers will remain in the Southeast with the potential for a wintry mix in the southern and central Appalachian mountains.
Rain mixed with freezing rain, sleet, and snow will potentially make for slippery travel into the early morning hours of Saturday. Winter Weather Advisories have been posted in North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland so far. Cities such as Asheville, North Carolina and Roanoke, Virginia will have to deal with this wintry mix.
In the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, this will mainly be a rain event. Rain showers will be on the increase Saturday afternoon through Saturday night.
