Another round of storms tore through the southern plains early Wednesday morning as a cold front slid east. A few Confirmed Tornado Warnings were issued, as damage pictures came in at daybreak. Owosso, just north of Tulsa, received quite a bit of damage from those early morning storms:
Powerful storms raced through the Midwest and down to the Gulf Coast coming out of this weekend. Sunday afternoon into Monday morning, a strong line of storms spurred numerous Severe Thunderstorm Warnings and quite a few Tornado Warnings. Those storms produced hundreds of reports of damage, with a few tornadoes touching down.
One of those was early Monday morning as a segment of the line started to spin in southern Mississippi. Our field correspondents went down and look at some of the damage left behind Monday morning:
That was later surveyed and assessed an EF-2 rating. Other areas that ended up being surveyed came back with lower-end tornadoes into Monday afternoon.
But look at the storms that raced through the Midwest and the Plains on Sunday. Over 90 mph straight-line winds were clocked alongside teacup-sized hail!
