<p>Areas in southeast Houston quickly took cover as a tornado-warned storm clipped some of the northeast suburbs. Multiple people saw this on the ground, with confirmation coming from radar that afternoon, as well. Below is the lifespan of the storms, as it went into areas close to The Woodlands and Spring.</p><video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/2025-11-25 08-19-33-1764084060214.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video><p>The storm left pretty extensive damage in its wake, toppling trees and damaging roofs early Monday afternoon. NWS Houston Confirms Two Tornadoes from Monday's Storms

Alana Cameron was born and raised in Canada in the city of Mississauga, just outside of Toronto. Alana is the oldest of 4 siblings, all close in age, and grew up playing outside with them in all types of weather. After graduating high school, Alana moved to study at the University of British Columbia in Kelowna for a year before transferring to Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia where she completed a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Atmospheric Science. Upon completion, Alana moved back to Toronto where she completed a post-grad degree in Meteorology at York University. After her post-grad, she went on to complete another post-grad in Broadcast Journalism - TV News at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario. During her final year of studies she had the privilege of interning with the best in the business in Canada at The Weather Network. Once she finished her internship, she got the call from small-town Denison, Texas where she accepted a job as an on-air meteorologist at KTEN-TV, right in tornado alley, covering severe weather from Sherman/Denison (North Texas) to Ada (Southern Oklahoma). After the most active tornado season Oklahoma had seen in May 2019 (105 tornadoes!) Alana is excited to join WeatherNation to cover weather all across the nation. <p>A low pressure system blowing through the High Plains has already produced upwards of half a foot of snow, with an isolated total of 15" in Montana, and winds up to nearly 80 mph! This system will continue producing snow, rain, high winds, and reduced visibility across the northern Plains, Upper Midwest, and Great Lakes through tomorrow.</p><h1>Wind Outlook</h1><p>Winds have already gusted up to nearly 80 mph in the High Plains, Wasta, and Midland, South Dakota has both produced 78 mph gusts! With travel ramping up, the bigger concern might have to be higher-profile vehicles on plenty of east-west facing interstates. High Wind Warnings and Wind Advisories are now in effect from South Dakota and Nebraska, through Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin, and into Ohio as well.</p><h1><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-25 105130-1764093096672.png">Snow Outlook</h1><p>Widespread <strong>Winter Weather Alerts</strong> remain in effect from North Dakota to Michigan as this low-pressure system drops in. Heavy snow, with rates of 1-2" per hour, combined with wind gusts upwards of 40-50 mph, will make driving extremely dangerous. Whiteout conditions could make travel nearly impossible.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-25 162459-1764113136150.png"><strong>Blizzard Warnings</strong> are in place for portions of South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and northern Michigan. When visibility is reduced to 1/4 or less, winds are greater than 35 mph, and this lasts for 3 hours, this classifies a winter storm as a blizzard.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-25 162520-1764113508024.png"></p><p>Since this system is fast-moving, the Dakotas will only see widespread totals from 1-4", with heavier amounts along I-29 south of Fargo. Totals will get heavier through the heart of Minnesota, reaching up to 6-12". However, where the heaviest totals are expected, in Northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, one to two FEET of accumulation is possible. Some locations could see closer to three feet, where enhanced by Lake Effect.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-25 163213-1764113542457.png"></p><h1>Timing</h1><p>Snowfall is escalating quickly as the low moves east. By Tuesday evening, heavy snowfall rates will be moving through the I-35 corridor between Duluth and Minneapolis. Travel across Minnesota is not advised. Overnight, rain will turn to snow across Wisconsin and the Great Lakes. Cold air on the back side of the low will make for a blustery Wednesday. Lake effect snow will continue in Michigan through Thanksgiving. Eventually, this moisture will work into the Northeast.</p><video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/11-25_rnc bams3k 12z-1764093152720.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video><h1>Temperatures</h1><p>Expect a significant cool down. Blizzard Warnings Issued for the Northern U.S.

<p>A low-pressure system <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.weathernationtv.com/news/windy-system-blows-through-upper-midwest-this-week"><strong>currently moving through the Northern Plains</strong></a> is expected to move into the northeast as we head into Wednesday and Thanksgiving. This, unfortunately, could complicate holiday plans.</p><h1><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-23 112422-1763922444302.png">TIMING</h1><p>Widespread rain will build in from the south, as a warm front lifts through the Eastern U.S. Things will quiet down a bit into Wednesday, with the exception of a few storms along the cold front. As the low from the Great Lakes starts to wrap up with the first low in the larger trough, cold air will start to infuse into the system. We'll see a few more scattered showers late Wednesday, but then the focus becomes Lake Effect Snow for Thanksgiving. By Thursday night, snow showers will become a bit more widespread across New York state, but the heaviest totals will be with LES and at higher elevations.</p><video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/11-25_rne-1764093980695.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video><h1>WINDS</h1><p>If you're holding a balloon in the parade, the winds are what concern you. It doesn't look like it will be windy enough to affect much of the parade, but balloons might have to be lowered to help offset winds funneling between buildings.</p><video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/NE wind-1764084248642.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video><p>All of this to say - Thanksgiving parades are probably alright in the northeast. Unless they're in the western New York area, those winds will be breezy at times, but the direction is most important! A westerly wind will carry warmer air temperatures from the lake waters into much cooler air temperatures behind all of this. The result? Thanksgiving Lake Effect Snow! Impressive bands have been noted on some longer-range models around Erie and Buffalo.</p><h2>Winter Alerts</h2><p><strong>Winter weather alerts </strong>have been issued for portions of western New York once the lake effect machine gets cranking. Most of these winter weather alerts are for 7" of snowfall or more and winds as high as 50 mph. Moisture and Lake Effect Snow for the Northeast

<p>Strong to severe storms continue their march eastward this morning. Attention turns to areas of Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi today, with another batch of storms expected later today. The Storm Prediction Center has us under a <strong>SLIGHT </strong>(level 2 out of 5) risk for severe storms across Texas and the lower Mississippi River Valley.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-25 105713-1764093557438.png"></p><h2>Storm Timing</h2><p>Storms continue to move east along the cold front through tonight. One More Day of Severe Weather in the South

<p>It is that time of year again—when millions of Americans hit the road or the skies to connect with friends and family. AAA is expecting a record number of travelers this year, surpassing the record-breaking 2024. Most travelers will be hitting the road vs flying.</p><p></p><div data-youtube-video=""><iframe width="640" height="480" allowfullscreen="false" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/o78PUXSJCJU" start="0"></iframe></div><p></p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-17 104347-1763401813998.png"></p><p>With millions hitting the roads, traffic will be hard to avoid, no matter where you are heading. However, there will be some better times to do your traveling. AAA suggests starting the journey early, but with a reasonable night of sleep the night prior.</p><p></p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-17 105052-1763401888415.png"></p><p>With so many traveling over the holidays, there are some favored destinations. A Record Breaking Thanksgiving Travel Week Expected

<p style="margin: 0in; margin-bottom: .0001pt;"><span style="font-size: 13.5pt; color: #454545;">Rob grew up in South Florida, where daily afternoon storms and hurricanes piqued his interest in meteorology early on. That interest was fostered by his teachers and his father, who one time brought him onto the roof of their home to watch a funnel cloud move through the Everglades several miles away. Years of filmmaking and tv production in high school gradually pushed him toward broadcast meteorology at Florida State University, where he joined and eventually led the student run daily weather show. After graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Meteorology, he began his career at KESQ in Palm Springs, California before heading to KFSN in Fresno and WLOS in Asheville, North Carolina. He has covered a diverse array of extreme weather events, including haboobs and flash flooding in the desert, extreme snow in the Sierra, hurricanes, and Appalachian ice storms. He also enjoys telling stories and reporting about weather issues.

<p><span style="color: rgb(13, 13, 13)">Hurricane Melissa was a devastating category 5 storm that made landfall in Jamaica as one of the strongest systems on record in the Atlantic Basin.</span></p><p><span style="color: rgb(13, 13, 13)">A dropsonde recorded a wind gust of 252 mph shortly before landfall, which was verified this week by NSF NCAR (U.S. National Science Foundation National Center for Atmospheric Research) to be accurate, making it the strongest gust ever recorded in a tropical cyclone.</span></p><p><span style="color: rgb(13, 13, 13)">WeatherNation Meteorologist Rob Bradley discusses the data and Melissa's intense winds with hurricane researcher Andy Hazelton, who was working the data position on the reconnaissance flight that recorded the record gust.</span></p><div data-youtube-video=""><iframe width="640" height="480" allowfullscreen="false" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/n8DyYwpvi0w" start="0"></iframe></div><p>What are meso-vortices? These are smaller scale circulations in the atmosphere that are essentially miniature low pressure systems. <p>A cut-off low will be moving out of southern California, bringing a surge of deep moisture to the Four Corners this weekend through next week. This low will bring rounds of showers and thunderstorms.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0)">&nbsp;</span>Communities across northwest New Mexico, southeast Utah, southwest Colorado, and northeast Arizona could an abundant amount of rain, with some areas picking up over an inch of rain by the end of the weekend.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0)">&nbsp;</span></p><video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/2025-11-22 08-09-43-1763824217158.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video><p></p><p>In the mountains, snow has been piling up with 2-9" of snow reported across multiple states on Friday. Higher elevations are cold enough for accumulating mountain snow once again, which may create tricky travel conditions over passes and high-country roadways throughout a busy week for travel.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0)">&nbsp;</span></p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-22 081034-1763824255136.png"></p><h2>Forecast</h2><p>Rain and snow chances will persist throughout the weekend, as the system moves to the Northeast. Heavy snow will return to the mountains, with difficult travel, especially on I-70 in Colorado. The rain and snow will mostly clear out by the beginning of next week.</p><video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/New Baron Video 3-1763867781581.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video><p></p><p>Isolated rain totals through Sunday could top an inch or two in some areas of Arizona. <span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0)">Some ponding on the roadways and street flooding will be possible.</span> Expect heavy snow in the mountains, upwards of 6"+ in many locations. Four Corners Expecting More Flooding Rain, Mountain Snow

<p>Very large hail has surfaced along our cold front from Texas through Kentucky from Sunday night. Hail upwards of 2.75" has come out of Sunday's storms from Texas through Alabama.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/03/Screenshot 2025-03-24 100644-1742832577772.png">The SPC has removed the severe weather outlook along the Gulf Coast, and the rain is winding down. An isolated storm or two will be possible through the overnight hours.</p><video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/03/vcv-1742866554694.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video><p>Some heavy rain along the Gulf may lead to flooding, there is a MARGINAL (level 1 out of 4) risk that rainfall could exceed flash flooding guidance in the areas highlighted below.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/03/Screenshot 2025-03-24 125453-1742842553239.png">Rainfall totals could surpass 1-3 inches in some locations, but a lot will be coming down in a short period of time. Heed any flash flood warnings, should they be issued later today.</p>
