Rounds of rain and thunderstorms produced heavy rain and storm damage across the South on Sunday, including numerous downed trees through Mississippi and Alabama. The severe weather risk associated with the same front aims for Florida on Monday. A few storms with damaging downdraft winds and large hail are possible as the front pushes south.

Monday, the Storm Prediction Center maintains a marginal risk (level 1 out of 5) for severe thunderstorms through Florida as the frontal system continues to move to the south. The main threats include damaging winds and large hail. As the frontal system pushes through Florida, storms will continue to ignite along the frontal boundary. Storms will continue to dive east along the front through the afternoon hours.

Another 1-2" of rain is possible through northern Florida, with lower amounts farther south. Stay with WeatherNation for updates on this top weather story, streaming online 24/7!
