A low pressure system moving out of northern Mexico is bringing major rainfall to areas of the Mississippi and Tennessee Valleys. The heavy rain will likely lead to areas of dangerous flash flooding. 1" to 3" of rain has already fallen in Mississippi and Louisiana, with much more ahead. Here is the very latest rainfall forecast.

Flooding Alerts

Flood alerts are already in place for cities like Jackson and Nashville and more alerts will likely be added throughout the day.

Forecast

Waves of showers and thunderstorms will cross the Mississippi and Tennessee River Valleys through Friday. We can't rule out some isolated severe storms as well.

Rainfall Potential

Our latest forecast model is showing a sold line of 3-6 inches of rainfall from Southwest Louisiana to Eastern Tennessee.  This is a huge amount of rain, so not only will it create flash flooding, but it will also contribute to rising streams, creeks and rivers in these areas. Keep checking with WeatherNation for more updates on the heavy rain risk.
