In the last 24 hours we have seen snowfall totals in Maine ranging from half an inch to two inches, and some light icing reported in Michigan. The system that moved through Michigan is targeting the Northeast today, bringing with it the threat of winter precipitation! Rain, snow and a light ice mix are all possible before the system moves out this afternoon.
A few trailing snow showers could be leftover in northern Maine through this evening, but most of the precip will clear out by early afternoon.
Rainfall will be very minimal, with half an inch or so expected. Snow totals through upstate New York and New England could be 1-3" in spots, with light ice accumulation as well. Winter weather advisories are in place for the snow and ice impacts through midday. Be careful on the roads throughout the day--a light glaze of ice is all it takes on bridges and overpasses as well as lesser-traveled roads to cause difficulties driving and slippery conditions.
