After significant flooding across deep South Texas a few days back, the threat of heavy rain has slowly shifted east. The same trough that brought so much rain to south Texas over the past few days has made it into the southeast, where storms this afternoon will cause some issues. The heavy rain threat will once again increase mostly across Florida, as additional storms develop.
The SPC has maintained a MARGINAL risk (level 1 out of 5) for severe storms across the state of Florida through tonight. A few locally strong storms will move through the state before taking a break overnight.
The heaviest rainfall through tonight looks to take target across central and southern Florida. As we head into Monday, the front responsible for severe weather to our west will move into this area, and strong storms will move back through the state of Florida.
Have backup plans ready this afternoon. The beach is no place to be during thunderstorms, especially if they're severe.
