Deadly Weekend Tornado Outbreak to End 2024

2024 was an active year for severe weather. The U.S. ended the year with the most tornadoes in over a decade.

A multi-day severe weather episode occurred over the weekend, December 27-29th. More than 40+ tornadoes were reported across the South causing numerous fatalities. Storm reports stretched from Texas to North Carolina.

Winds of 70+ mph, and baseball size (2.75") hail were some of the major impacts.

The National Weather Service has completed a few incident surveys for several of the confirmed tornadoes. More incident information from the National Weather Service as they survey damaged areas.
