<p>Severe storms moved through areas of Texas to Wisconsin on Monday. That same front will focus more severe chances into this afternoon.</p><div class="twitter-tweet" style="display: flex; justify-content: center" data-twitt-post-id="1916945520737849805" src="https://x.com/WeatherNation/status/1916945520737849805"></div><p>Large hail and damaging winds were the primary problems, with some areas seeing hailstones larger than hen eggs at times!</p><p></p><h1>NORTHERN END</h1><p>The Storm Prediction Center has maintained an <strong>ENHANCED</strong> (level 3 out of 5) risk for severe storms across portions of Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, and West Virginia. Ongoing clusters of thunderstorms will threaten damaging winds, but there is also the risk for some supercell thunderstorms posing a risk of isolated hail and tornadoes.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/04/Screenshot 2025-04-29 123650-1745952172179.png"></p><h1>SOUTHERN END</h1><p>This is more of a lower-level energy setup. Unstable air that starts at the ground will help power storms into the afternoon. Severe Storms Possible From New York to Texas Today

<p>The weather pattern remains favorable for heavy rain in the southern plains through Thursday. The area is still recovering from the heavy rain last weekend, meaning flash flooding could become a big concern, especially after widespread totals of 1-2" with the morning round of storms Tuesday, completely saturating the top layer of soil. Oklahoma City was under a Flash Flood Warning Tuesday AM with reports of creeks overflowing and basements flooding. The National Weather Service has issued a <strong>FLOOD WATCH </strong>into Thursday morning across portions of Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, and Texas.</p><p>Models have begun to align on the location of where this stationary boundary stalls out mid-week. Heavy rain will likely be the result of strong/severe storms. Level 3 Flood Threat Issued for the Southern Plains

<p>A deep trough of low pressure is sliding through the Rockies and onto the Plains, bringing unsettled weather to the region. Widespread rain and high-elevation snow will continue through Thursday.</p><h1>How Much Accumulation?</h1><p>The highest peaks of Wyoming, Montana, and Colorado could see over 6 inches of accumulation by Thursday morning.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/04/tomer west forecast precip-1745952612901.jpg">Denver and the Front Range of Colorado has two shots of rain/snow coming. The first arrives Tuesday afternoon and the second Wednesday afternoon into Thursday morning. Locations above 9,000ft could see several inches of snow accumulation. <p>Fire weather concerns have been all too common in the northeast this month. Today, the winds will gust to 30 mph. Another soaking rain will go a long way in helping out. Rain This Week Douses Fire Concerns Today

<p>A strong area of low pressure has emerged from the Rockies, which has prompted a <strong>MODERATE (level 4 out of 5)</strong> risk overnight. EF-2+ intensity tornadoes and 2-inch diameter hail (or larger) are possible.</p><p><strong>CAUGHT ON CAMERA</strong>: Our field correspondent Erik Fox was in the Sand Hills of Nebraska, where a storm cycled for hours on Sunday night, producing the spotting of a tornado.</p><div class="twitter-tweet" style="display: flex; justify-content: center" data-twitt-post-id="1916681281515184498" src="https://x.com/WeatherNation/status/1916681281515184498"></div><h1>Overnight - Hazards and Timing</h1><p>The Storm Prediction Center has issued a <strong>MODERATE</strong> (level 4 out of 5) risk for severe storms in portions of the Upper Midwest and Upper Mississippi Valley. Multiple corridors of severe thunderstorms remain possible.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/04/Screenshot 2025-04-28 212044-1745896851475.png"></p><p>Strong winds and massive hail remain possible, but the tornado threat will also be quite high for portions of the Upper-Midwest, thanks to increased wind shear near the upper-level low. This includes the potential for significant tornadoes in the Upper-Midwest, meaning we could see violent tornadoes that last for a long duration. These tornadoes should be taken very seriously, as they'll have the potential to produce winds over 110 mph (EF-2 or greater).</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/04/Screenshot 2025-04-28 212227-1745896953253.png"></p><p>Storms have developed and will continue into the overnight hours.. Multiple corridors of severe thunderstorms are expected.</p><p></p><video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/04/bust-1745897203666.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video><p></p><h1>Tuesday - Hazards and Timing</h1><p>Scattered severe storms will continue to move east on Tuesday along the front, with severe storms possible from Vermont to Texas! There are two areas of an <strong>ENHANCED </strong>risk (level 3 out of 5) on Tuesday. Portions of the northeast, including Pittsburgh, PA and western New York, as well as west Texas and into Texoma.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/04/1-1745863825014.png"></p><p>There is still a bit of uncertainty on the forecast for Tuesday morning, pending how overnight convection from Monday behaves. The most likely scenario will be storms continuing along the same boundary throughout the day, and as the atmosphere becomes more unstable during peak heating, thunderstorms will become more dangerous.</p><p></p><video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/04/tuesvr-1745897459682.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video><h1>Flooding</h1><p>Heavy rain will accompany storms, with isolated flash flooding possible. Dangerous Storms Moving Across the Upper Midwest Overnight

Alana Cameron was born and raised in Canada in the city of Mississauga, just outside of Toronto. Alana is the oldest of 4 siblings, all close in age, and grew up playing outside with them in all types of weather. After graduating high school, Alana moved to study at the University of British Columbia in Kelowna for a year before transferring to Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia where she completed a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Atmospheric Science. Upon completion, Alana moved back to Toronto where she completed a post-grad degree in Meteorology at York University. After her post-grad, she went on to complete another post-grad in Broadcast Journalism - TV News at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario. During her final year of studies she had the privilege of interning with the best in the business in Canada at The Weather Network. Once she finished her internship, she got the call from small-town Denison, Texas where she accepted a job as an on-air meteorologist at KTEN-TV, right in tornado alley, covering severe weather from Sherman/Denison (North Texas) to Ada (Southern Oklahoma). After the most active tornado season Oklahoma had seen in May 2019 (105 tornadoes!) Alana is excited to join WeatherNation to cover weather all across the nation. <p></p><p>We saw another day of record warmth across the south on Monday. Tallahassee, FL, saw a high of 94°, breaking a record from 1927, and Tuscaloosa, AL, reached a high of 90°, which tied a previous record from 1994. An area of high pressure will continue to dominate, and we will see the potential for more record highs this week.</p><p></p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/04/Screenshot 2025-04-28 210616-1745895996894.png"></p><p>While the recent heatwave is beginning to settle down, we could see a few more records fall during the day Tuesday. </p><p></p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/04/Screenshot 2025-04-27 210700-1745809626734.png"></p><p>Looking over the next few days, many cities across the south will continue to run above average. Tampa, Florida, has an average in the mid-80s for this time of year, and temperatures will reach the lower 90s, bringing the heat! The Little Rock, AR average this time of year is in the mid-70s, but will see highs in the 80s. </p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/04/Screenshot 2025-04-28 211041-1745896249713.png">Even the northeastern U.S. is feeling the beautiful spring temperatures. On average, many northeast cities will be about 10 degrees warmer than normal on Tuesday before our next front moves in on Wednesday and Thursday.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/04/Screenshot 2025-04-28 211221-1745896346421.png">As we move into the longer-term trends, the Climate Prediction Center offers some reprieve from the hot temperatures in the northeast, settling us back down to likely average temperatures into the first week of May. Stretch of Historic Heat Continues

<p><strong>WEST TEXAS</strong> - A dryline will help to trigger storms on the southern side of the severe potential overnight and through Tuesday. In the same way, a cold front separates cold air from warm air. It helps to trigger thunderstorms, and the forecast supports that through tonight in west Texas.</p><div data-youtube-video=""><iframe width="640" height="480" allowfullscreen="false" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/P0JVrM2oFDk" start="0"></iframe></div><p></p><h2>Overnight - Tuesday</h2><p>As we head deeper into the work week, the dryline will perhaps trigger an additional storm or two overnight, and again for Tuesday along with the tail end of a cold front. Dryline Thunderstorms Continue in West Texas

<p style="margin: 0in; margin-bottom: .0001pt;"><span style="font-size: 13.5pt; color: #454545;">Rob grew up in South Florida, where daily afternoon storms and hurricanes piqued his interest in meteorology early on. That interest was fostered by his teachers and his father, who one time brought him onto the roof of their home to watch a funnel cloud move through the Everglades several miles away. Years of filmmaking and tv production in high school gradually pushed him toward broadcast meteorology at Florida State University, where he joined and eventually led the student run daily weather show. After graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Meteorology, he began his career at KESQ in Palm Springs, California before heading to KFSN in Fresno and WLOS in Asheville, North Carolina. He has covered a diverse array of extreme weather events, including haboobs and flash flooding in the desert, extreme snow in the Sierra, hurricanes, and Appalachian ice storms. He also enjoys telling stories and reporting about weather issues.
