You wouldn't think we had enough snow in the mountains to bring on avalanches, but that's the case. All it takes are two differing layers of snow and you could have a problem. Insane footage came out of the past weekend, where a group of snowboarders got caught up in one, thankfully living to tell the tale.
The lack of snowfall doesn't mean there is none. While many areas like Colorado are running behind schedule, it's less about the amount of snowfall and more about the conditions on the mountain.
