It was another cold morning on Monday across the Northeast. Many cities across the Northeast hit below zero for the air temperature! Dubois, PA broke its record low temperature for the morning, getting down to -9°.

There will be some improvement with overnight lows getting closer to seasonal by midweek.

Where does this year's cold rank?

While it has been a cold winter, many colder winters have occurred in the history of weather observations in the Eastern U.S. Most of these areas have weather data dating back to the 1800s, so ranking in the bottom half or even bottom quarter is still impressive.

As we look ahead, temperatures will remain below average. In New York City, expect temperatures to be in the 30s this week.
