Alana Cameron was born and raised in Canada in the city of Mississauga, just outside of Toronto. Alana is the oldest of 4 siblings, all close in age, and grew up playing outside with them in all types of weather. After graduating high school, Alana moved to study at the University of British Columbia in Kelowna for a year before transferring to Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia where she completed a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Atmospheric Science. Upon completion, Alana moved back to Toronto where she completed a post-grad degree in Meteorology at York University. After her post-grad, she went on to complete another post-grad in Broadcast Journalism - TV News at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario. During her final year of studies she had the privilege of interning with the best in the business in Canada at The Weather Network. Once she finished her internship, she got the call from small-town Denison, Texas where she accepted a job as an on-air meteorologist at KTEN-TV, right in tornado alley, covering severe weather from Sherman/Denison (North Texas) to Ada (Southern Oklahoma). After the most active tornado season Oklahoma had seen in May 2019 (105 tornadoes!) Alana is excited to join WeatherNation to cover weather all across the nation. NORTHEAST - The northeastern U.S. is in for some wintry weather over the course of the week, with a couple of clipper systems dropping in from the northern Plains expected. The first clipper is moving through this afternoon, set to bring snowfall to portions of New York and northern New England. The stronger clipper that moves into this region arrives on Wednesday and continues into Thursday.<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/12093-1765329078206.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video>Widespread winter alerts have been getting issued for portions of the northeastern U.S. in anticipation of the second clipper system to move through.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/Screenshot 2025-12-09 180750-1765328875142.png">Blizzard alerts have also been issued for portions of West Virginia from Wednesday through Thursday. Visibility may drop to 1/4 of a mile, snowfall totals between 8-12", and winds up to 50 mph.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/Screenshot 2025-12-09 180737-1765328880705.png">Snowfall totals will be even heavier in the snowbelts, where lake effect snowfall is expected to pick up throughout the week.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/Screenshot 2025-12-09 180814-1765328898324.png">Winds will be a problem for visibility late Wednesday into Thursday as the front moves through. Originally born in Spokane, Washington,  Jackie's Dad was in the Air Force which led her to a life of travel. She has lived in Wichita, Okinawa, Japan, Baltimore, New Jersey, Indiana and South Carolina.  After graduating from Kadena High School, in Okinawa Japan, she got a full basketball scholarship to Coppin State College. On the court she was a 4-year starter and reached over 1000 points in her basketball career. She was also named Athlete of the Year for the whole university in 2002. Off the court, she earned a degree in Broadcast Production/English.

After college, she landed a job as a radio personality. Jackie went on to have a successful career for 12 years working at KXLY broadcast center. While on the radio, she decided to change career. Jackie went back to school, graduating from the Mississippi State Meteorology Broadcast Program. From snow, to tornadoes, to hurricanes, she has had experience forecasting all these events.

The Northern Tier of the country is no stranger to cold, and Tuesday morning proved that with multiple record lows. Watertown, New York, saw a morning low of -18°! Brrrrr! This beat out the old record of -16° in 2008! Temperatures will not be as cold on Wednesday, but get ready for another blast of colder air by the end of the week! <img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/Screenshot 2025-12-09 115311-1765306414633.png"><h1>Another Blast Of Cold Air</h1>Temperatures rebound for a day or two, with more dangerously cold weather expected at the end of the week and into the weekend! Temperatures will be 30° BELOW average for some, as this arctic air invades the Northern Plain and Northeast.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/Screenshot 2025-12-09 180039-1765328450166.png">Low temperatures Friday through Sunday will drop below zero for many. Here Comes Another Push of Arctic Air

Taban Sharifi grew up in Southern California between Los Angeles and San Diego. She is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) with the American Meteorological Society (AMS). She has a B.S. in Atmospheric, Oceanic, and Environmental Sciences with a minor in Environmental Systems and Society from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Go Bruins! While in school, Taban was a meteorology intern with NBC LA. There she helped forecast daily weather for the greater Los Angeles region and created a playbook to deploy weather sensors for NBC owned-and-operated stations across the country. Her first on-air job took her to San Angelo, Texas, where she was a morning meteorologist and co-anchor. Working in West Texas gave her knowledge and experience covering severe storms. From there, she moved to Palm Springs, California. People think forecasting in California is sunshine all the time, but with temperatures in the 120’s, wildfires, damaging winds, floodings, and earthquakes, the forecasting kept her very busy! She also worked there as a general assignment reporter and told community stories. Taban is excited for the challenge and opportunity to forecast nationally with WeatherNation. She also looks forward to exploring all that Colorado has to offer!

NORTHWEST - Now through Wednesday, we will see a series of strong atmospheric rivers bring very heavy rainfall, warmer temperatures, and high elevation snow that will be measured in feet. The next 7 days ahead shows the AR scale reaching a level 4. Flood potential is increasing, especially for river flooding, as the week rolls on.Some cities in Washington and Oregon have already seen over 5-7" of rainfall.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/Screenshot 2025-12-09 175637-1765328219134.png">A deep supply of tropical moisture has arrived from the "pineapple express," or atmospheric river. Intense rainfall, gusty winds, and heavy mountain snow are expected. The ridge of high pressure helping to steer the tropical moisture northward will also lead to above-average temperatures, bringing snow levels up in elevation for Washington, Oregon, and Idaho.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/Screenshot 2025-12-06 055639-1765026414726.png">With this event being so warm, significant flooding is likely for the higher terrain of the Cascades, in addition to lower elevations! Flood Watches have been issued for Washington through Friday.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/Screenshot 2025-12-09 175403-1765328050914.png">Rainfall totals through Saturday morning are expected to reach over 6" for large areas along and west of the Cascades. With heavy rainfall rates, we could see flash flooding develop in addition to river flooding. As all of the moisture adds up and runs off into creeks, streams, and rivers, water levels will rise dramatically through the middle of the week. Many rivers are expected to reach moderate to major flood stages, including the Snoqualmie and Snohomish. Landslides will remain a risk.<div class="twitter-tweet" style="display: flex; justify-content: center" data-twitt-post-id="1998497888079368241" src="https://x.com/WeatherNation/status/1998497888079368241"></div><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/Screenshot 2025-12-09 175421-1765328064930.png">As this moisture moves east and hits colder air in the Rockies, more of the rain will turn to heavy snow. Temperatures will continue to climb, leading to higher and higher snowfall levels. A break arrives on Wednesday evening and Thursday. Another weaker system is expected on Friday.<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/12091-1765328140789.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video>Snow will be very heavy east of the Cascades, especially above 6,000 feet. Snow levels will go up and down quite a bit through the event, so driving over mountain passes in the afternoons may yield only rain at times, while at other times, intense snow is expected. NORTHERN PLAINS - Today, an Alberta Clipper dove into the north-central U.S., bringing in some light snow for the northern Plains through the Great Lakes. Snowfall totals look to be fairly minimal with this first clipper, but a second will move through right behind it. Winter alerts have been issued for the northern Plains through Wednesday for heavy snow, patchy blowing snow, and potentially some freezing rain! <img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/Screenshot 2025-12-09 174923-1765327771580.png">Since we've seen winds return from the south, temperatures will be warmer with this next clipper, which means rain, freezing rain, ice, and snow will be a problem. DENVER, CO - Denver saw its first significant snow this season earlier this week, with 6.5 inches reported downtown! The highest totals were reported in the higher elevations, with 11 inches recorded in Genesee.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/Screenshot 2025-12-04 095720-1764867453909.png"><h1>Forecast Snow</h1>Further snow is in store for the Rocky Mountains as a frontal system dives in. Precipitation began in northern Utah Friday evening and will spread across Colorado overnight and into Saturday morning. Another round of snow is likely for the weekend with higher moisture content coming from the Northwest.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/Screenshot 2025-12-05 202547-1764991557250.png"><video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/rockieswnoww-1764991689293.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video>With today's round and our late-week round, snowfall totals may reach upwards of a foot plus in the higher elevations.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/Screenshot 2025-12-05 202838-1764991729249.png">This snowfall is more than welcome for some of the ski resorts in the Rockies. Rob grew up in South Florida, where daily afternoon storms and hurricanes piqued his interest in meteorology early on. That interest was fostered by his teachers and his father, who one time brought him onto the roof of their home to watch a funnel cloud move through the Everglades several miles away. Years of filmmaking and tv production in high school gradually pushed him toward broadcast meteorology at Florida State University, where he joined and eventually led the student run daily weather show. After graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Meteorology, he began his career at KESQ in Palm Springs, California before heading to KFSN in Fresno and WLOS in Asheville, North Carolina. He has covered a diverse array of extreme weather events, including haboobs and flash flooding in the desert, extreme snow in the Sierra, hurricanes, and Appalachian ice storms. He also enjoys telling stories and reporting about weather issues.

Multiple low-pressure systems moving across the country will bring heavy rain to the Gulf Coast through the end of the week, but on the northern periphery of these lows, cold air will linger, turning rain into snow and ice! The snow started falling Thursday morning in Texas and Oklahoma before moving east Thursday afternoon. <div class="twitter-tweet" style="display: flex; justify-content: center" data-twitt-post-id="1996640648766628256" src="https://x.com/WeatherNation/status/1996640648766628256"></div> Winter weather advisories are in effect through Friday afternoon from North Carolina through eastern Maryland for light/moderate snow and some light icing. Expect roads to be slick with temperatures in the 20s.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/pic6-1764963628163.png">Virginia into North Carolina and some areas around the Chesapeake Bay will see a round of mostly snow on Friday morning, with moderate ice accretions possible along the Blue Ridge Escarpment in Western North Carolina. Some snow may linger along the Mid-Atlantic coast into New Jersey and Delaware into the afternoon and early evening.<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/FORECAST-1764971120854.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video>Snow accumulations look mostly minor, generally 1-3 inches, but higher elevations in the Blue Ridge Mountains could see some 3-6 inch totals. Snow & Ice Lingers for the Mid-Atlantic & Appalachians

MONTANA - A clipper system has been moving through the Rockies and High Plains and brought upwards of 4-7" of snowfall across portions of Montana. More snow is in store across the Northern Plains to Midwest to Northeast as the clippers move through.<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/New Baron Video 3-1764813457932.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video>These totals will pile up across the northern plains, with the highest totals staying out west across the Northern Rockies.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/Screenshot 2025-12-03 162020-1764804026521.png">Gusty winds will also play a role in the forecast. We can expect rounds of 25-30mph wind gusts. In some cases, maybe even higher than that! Watch out for those wind chill temperatures as they will drop as the winds come through with each clipper system.<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/12/12-03 rnc bams3k wind-1764786148016.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video>Clipper systems are notorious for bringing quick-accumulating snowfall. But, even if snow totals are not significant, it doesn't mean dangerous road conditions won't be present. The Iowa Department of Transportation reports over 70% of weather-related crashes happen when there is 2" or LESS of snowfall. Northern U.S. Bracing for Multiple Clipper Systems this Week

Enrique, the first hurricane of the 2021 Pacific tropical season, continues to churn just offshore of Mexico. It currently has 70 mph winds, which means it has decreased in intensity to a strong Tropical Storm. At it's peak Enrique had maximum sustained winds up to 90 mph, which was a strong Category 1 Hurricane.

Additional slow weakening should occur as Enrique moves toward the Baja California peninsula late next week. Enrique will encounter cooler waters as it moves north, leading to it's weakening trend.

Rough surf, storm surge, and deadly flooding rain is expected to impact the coastal regions of Western Mexico due to Enrique's proximity. Tropical storm warnings have been posted in Mexico from the state of Jalisco to the state of Michoacan. The heavy rain is falling in an area that was impacted by Dolores last weekend. Flash flooding and mudslides will be possible.
