The National Hurricane Center is tracking Tropical Storm Amanda along with two additional disturbances that could develop in the coming days, making the Pacific the most active tropical basin in the Northern Hemisphere right now. ( See Above Image)</p><h3><strong>Amanda Becomes First Named Storm of the Season:</strong><span style="color: rgb(36, 36, 36)">&nbsp;</span></h3><p>Tropical Storm Amanda formed on Wednesday, becoming the first named storm of the 2026 Eastern Pacific hurricane season. The storm is currently located well away from land and is not expected to threaten any coastal areas. Amanda is now a tropical depression and should continue to weaken in the next few days. </p><h3><strong>Two Disturbances Could Bring Additional Development:</strong></h3><p>In addition to Amanda, meteorologists are watching two separate areas of disturbed weather south and southwest of Mexico. Both systems currently have high odds of tropical development over the next several days as they move over warm waters conducive to tropical cyclone formation. Some impacts on portions of Mexico are possible if either system strengthens and tracks closer to the coastline. &nbsp;<span style="color: rgb(36, 36, 36)">&nbsp;</span></p><p>The National Hurricane Center continues to monitor these disturbances closely, and future outlooks could increase or decrease development chances depending on how environmental conditions evolve.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2026/06/1-1780779715291.png"></p><p>The two areas of interest has been identified as Invest 91 and 92-E. In the coming days, we should see these areas as Boris and Cristina. Regardless of development, heavy rain and gusty winds will be likely for parts of Central America.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2026/06/1-1780779928935.png"></p><h3></h3><h3><strong>Signs Point to an Active Eastern Pacific Season</strong><span style="color: rgb(36, 36, 36)">:</span></h3><p>The early burst of activity is occurring as sea surface temperatures across parts of the Eastern Pacific remain warmer than average. Combined with the development of El Niño conditions, forecasters expect the basin to remain favorable for tropical cyclone formation through much of the season. NOAA’s seasonal outlook calls for an above-average Eastern Pacific hurricane season, with between 15 and 22 named storms possible. Several of those storms could reach hurricane strength, including multiple major hurricanes. &nbsp;<span style="color: rgb(36, 36, 36)">&nbsp;</span></p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2026/06/Screenshot 2026-06-05 073331-1780666421832.png"></p><p>Meanwhile, the Atlantic Basin is off to a slow start, with dry air associated with Saharan dust helping suppress tropical development across much of the region. While quiet conditions are expected to continue in the near term, the Eastern Pacific is already showing signs that the 2026 tropical season could be an active one. &nbsp;<span style="color: rgb(36, 36, 36)">&nbsp;</span></p><h1><strong>Atlantic</strong></h1><p>The Atlantic is starting the season with no activity expected through the first week. Two Disturbances in the Eastern Pacific Have a Chance of Developing

<p>A broad area of tropical moisture moving across the Gulf is expected to fuel widespread showers and thunderstorms over the coming days.<span style="color: rgb(36, 36, 36)">&nbsp;This weekend, a Flood Watch has been issued for parts of the Southern Plains from SW Missouri down to North Texas. As more thunderstorms pop, the rainfall rates could be quite high and result in flooding with the deep tropical moisture in place. </span>That could lead to periods of torrential rainfall, especially in areas where storms repeatedly track over the same locations. Flash flooding may become a concern in urban areas, low-lying spots, and places with poor drainage.</p><video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2026/06/BARON 5-1780781633029.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2026/06/1-1780781477639.png"></p><p>The heaviest rainfall is expected to focus on portions of the central and eastern Gulf Coast, where several inches of rain could accumulate over a short period of time. Scattered storms capable of producing large hail and damaging winds are possible for portions of the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley into the Northeast. Severe Storms for the Northeast This Weekend

<p>Millions of people across the Plains are preparing for a potentially dangerous stretch of weather this weekend as thunderstorms capable of producing flash flooding, large hail, damaging winds, and a few tornadoes develop across the region.<span style="color: rgb(36, 36, 36)">&nbsp;The plains have been active over the past several days, with multiple areas having flooding concerns. In the past 24 hours, Kansas has reported rainfall totals over 9 inches.</span></p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2026/06/Screenshot 2026-06-06 083641-1780756612104.png"></p><p>An active weather pattern will take shape from the southern and central Plains into parts of the Upper Midwest as warm, humid air from the Gulf of Mexico combines with a series of disturbances moving across the country. The setup is expected to fuel widespread thunderstorm development, particularly during the afternoon and evening hours.<span style="color: rgb(36, 36, 36)">&nbsp;</span></p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2026/06/Screenshot 2026-06-06 083950-1780756810945.png"></p><p>The greatest concern will be for severe thunderstorms capable of producing hail large enough to damage vehicles and property, along with powerful wind gusts that could bring down trees and power lines. Thunderstorms are expected to produce heavy downpours, and some locations could see multiple rounds of rain over the same areas. Severe Storms, Flash Flooding Threaten Millions Across the Plains This Weekend

That interest was fostered by his teachers and his father, who one time brought him onto the roof of their home to watch a funnel cloud move through the Everglades several miles away. After graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Meteorology, he began his career at KESQ in Palm Springs, California before heading to KFSN in Fresno and WLOS in Asheville, North Carolina. <p>Strong storms have been surging across the Plains and Midwest this week, producing lots of hail and strong winds, with a tornado or two. The threat continues through the overnight hours as the low-pressure system continues to slide farther east toward the Great Lakes.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2026/06/Screenshot 2026-06-05 201844-1780712330861.png"><br></p><p>The <strong>SLIGHT</strong> risk for severe storms extends from Nebraska to Illinois, with another <strong>SLIGHT</strong> risk for storms moving across Wisconsin. The significant severe potential sticks around, too. Join WeatherNation as we help you know your risk, get your plan together, and better understand the science behind tropical systems.</p><p>Whether you live on the coastline or inland, it is important to <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.ready.gov/hurricanes">know your risks</a> when it comes to tropical systems.&nbsp; Coastal communities are at greatest risk of destructive winds and dangerous storm surge and may have to evacuate. But even people hundreds of miles inland are at risk from high winds, flooding rains, severe weather, and tornadoes. Even after the storm passes, the lasting threat of flooding and power outages could occur days or weeks after a storm hits.</p><p>Though Hurricane Melissa became one of the strongest hurricanes to ever make landfall in the basin, it was the first time in a decade that a hurricane did not make landfall in the U.S. That doesn't mean we were without impacts. Let's take a look back:</p><div data-youtube-video=""><iframe width="640" height="480" allowfullscreen="false" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/i3WsK0L2JP8" start="0"></iframe></div><p></p><p><a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.weathernationtv.com/news/noaa-predictions-for-the-2026-hurricane-season"><strong>WHAT'S THE FORECAST THIS SEASON?</strong></a> <span style="color: rgb(40, 42, 58)">NOAA has released </span><a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.noaa.gov/news-release/noaa-predicts-below-normal-2026-atlantic-hurricane-season">its predictions for the 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season</a><span style="color: rgb(40, 42, 58)">. They are calling for a </span><strong><em><span style="color: rgb(40, 42, 58)">below</span></em></strong><span style="color: rgb(40, 42, 58)"> normal season with 8-14 named storms, 3-6 hurricanes, and 1-3 major hurricanes. For probability, they predict a 35% chance of a near-normal season, a 10% chance of an above-normal season, and a 55% chance of a below-normal season.</span></p><div data-youtube-video=""><iframe width="640" height="480" allowfullscreen="false" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/2rztDcYFRbM" start="0"></iframe></div><p></p><p><span style="color: rgb(40, 42, 58)">NOAA cites several factors in their forecast, including the burgeoning El Ni­­ño, and possible Super Ni­­ño, shaping up in the tropical Pacific. The expectation for an El Ni­­ño event during the peak of the 2026 Atlantic Hurricane season is a big factor in keeping numbers lower than previous years, along with near-normal sea surface temperatures, which have been much above average in recent seasons.</span></p><p><span style="color: rgb(40, 42, 58)">Why does El Ni­­ño typically reduce hurricane activity in the Atlantic Basin? The warmer water in the equatorial Pacific often leads to a more energetic subtropical jet, leading to stronger winds in the upper atmosphere over the Caribbean. Surface winds in the Caribbean most often come from the east, known as the trade winds. When these winds lie under strong winds from the opposite (or even the same direction), it leads to strong wind shear, which tears hurricanes apart.</span></p><p><span style="color: rgb(40, 42, 58)">Forecasters at Colorado State University also predicted a below-average season. Hear their reasoning:</span></p><div data-youtube-video=""><iframe width="640" height="480" allowfullscreen="false" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/PrEEwxSK5tU" start="0"></iframe></div><p>While seasonal outlooks give us some idea of what to expect, there is no way to know for certain just what the season will have in store for YOUR area.&nbsp; Seasonal outlooks cannot forecast exactly when, where, or if a storm will strike. <span style="color: rgb(40, 42, 58)">Even below-average seasons can have major impacts. All it takes is one storm making landfall for it to be a devastating season in the U.S.</span></p><p>In preparation for the upcoming season, NOAA's National Hurricane Center is incorporating new tools and processes to keep the public better informed. There's A LOT of jargon, phrases, and information that can make understanding tropical cyclones difficult. Understanding the basics may help when a storm threatens.</p><p><strong>WATCHES VS. WARNINGS</strong> Do you know the difference between a watch and a warning? What about all of the alerts issued during the tropical season? Whenever a tropical cyclone (a tropical depression, tropical storm, or hurricane) or a subtropical storm has formed in the Atlantic or eastern North Pacific, the NOAA National Hurricane Center (NHC) issues tropical cyclone advisory products<em>&nbsp;at least</em> every 6 hours at 5 am, 11 am, 5 pm, and 11 pm EDT. A WATCH is issued when hurricane, tropical storm, or storm surge conditions are expected within 48 hours. A WARNING is issued when life-threatening conditions are expected within 36 hours.</p><p><strong>WHAT IS THE SAFFIR-SIMPSON SCALE?</strong> The Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale is a 1 to 5 rating based on a hurricane's sustained wind speed, with 5 being the highest. This scale estimates potential property damage. Hurricanes reaching Category 3 and higher are considered major hurricanes because of their potential for significant loss of life and damage. Category 1 and 2 storms are still dangerous, however, and require preventative measures.&nbsp; (<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/aboutsshws.php"><em>Source: NHC</em></a>)</p><p>When a tropical system reaches winds of 39mph or greater, it's given a name to better track and communicate its risks. The 2026 name list may look a little familiar. Here's why:</p><div data-youtube-video=""><iframe width="640" height="480" allowfullscreen="false" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/cLoG9Qce7C8" start="0"></iframe></div><p><strong>UNDERSTANDING THE FORECAST "CONE"</strong> Listening to forecast details can mean the difference between being prepared and caught off guard. Before a storm strikes, you'll often see a forecast "cone" to represent the expected forecast track of a system. The forecast cone <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/aboutcone.shtml"><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0)">represents the probable track of the center of a tropical cyclone</span></a><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0)">. The width of the cone is based on historical forecast error percentage and uncertainty in the forecast. In 2024, NHC released an experimental version of the cone to not just communicate the center track, but also show the widespread nature of potential impacts. They plan to fine-tune and continue to use this concurrently until it becomes the primary forecast.</span></p><p><strong>WHAT PART OF A HURRICANE IS THE MOST POWERFUL?</strong> When a hurricane threatens landfall, most often the most impacts will be felt on the "front right quadrant" in relation to the direction of movement. Impacts can and will be felt on all "sides" of a storm, but the threat of the highest winds, storm surge, and indirect impacts, such as tornadoes, is often increased in the front right quadrant.</p><p><strong>LIVE INLAND? YOU AREN'T IMMUNE TO HURRICANES!</strong> Even if you live nowhere near a coastline, impacts from tropical systems can still occur. This lesson was learned during Hurricane Helene with historic, catastrophic flooding as far north as North Carolina. Inland rain and water are the deadliest parts of Tropical Storms, and the impacts can spread far away from the immediate coastline.</p><p><strong>UNDERSTANDING STORM SURGE</strong> Along the coast, storm surge is often the greatest threat to life and property from a hurricane.&nbsp;&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/surge/">Storm surge</a> has come along with some of the most powerful storms in history.</p><p>Still have questions? <p>Charge your camera batteries! Aurora Borealis, aka the Northern Lights, could be gracing the skies over North America Thursday night into Friday morning.<br><br>An X-Class solar flare on Wednesday (top of page) sent high energy particles from the sun toward earth, initially causing radio communications issues Wednesday morning and afternoon. The CME takes longer to arrive than the initial burst of energy from the flare, which is why more than 24 hours later were anticipating the potential for Aurora to appear.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2026/06/Screenshot 2026-06-04 111544-1780594141267.png"></p><p>The Space Weather Prediction Center has issued their forecast (above) for where Aurora could be visible under ideal conditions (dark, cloud free skies). Unfortunatley some areas that are expected to have potential to see Aurora, will also have storms in the area. One of which is becoming the first named storm of the year and others that could have impacts to land this weekend.</p><h1>Atlantic</h1><p>The Atlantic is starting the season with no activity expected through the first week. A big burst of Saharan Dust is providing plenty of dry air, which could impact air quality and visibility in the Caribbean and parts of Florida through the week ahead.</p><video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2026/06/BARON 5-1780626179667.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video><h1>Eastern Pacific</h1><p>The first tropical storm of the season formed in the Eastern Pacific on Wednesday morning. The basin could have its second system of the season this weekend, with impacts in Mexico possible. The NHC gives the southern wave near Mexico a high chance to develop. Another outlook region, also with high development potential, has been added along the SW coast of Mexico. We'll be monitoring this region closely and will provide updates.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2026/06/1-1780626194213.png"></p><p></p><h2>Amanda</h2><p>Tropical Storm Amanda has formed in the eastern Pacific Ocean, becoming the first named storm of the 2026 eastern Pacific hurricane season. The National Hurricane Center designated Amanda as a tropical storm on Wednesday. At this time, the storm poses no threat to land.</p><p>As of the latest advisory, Amanda was packing maximum sustained winds of <strong>45 mph</strong> while moving northwest over the open Pacific. Forecast guidance indicates the storm should strengthen somewhat during the next couple of days before encountering less favorable environmental conditions and weakening later this week into the weekend.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2026/06/1-1780626253064.png"></p><p></p><p>Amanda is currently moving over sufficiently warm ocean waters that can support tropical cyclone development. In the short term, manageable wind shear and ample tropical moisture should allow for some additional organization and strengthening.</p><p>However, as the storm tracks farther northwest, it is forecast to move into cooler sea surface temperatures and increasing atmospheric stability, which should gradually weaken the storm.</p><p>Amanda's development comes as forecasters continue to monitor unusually warm waters across portions of the eastern Pacific and the ongoing development of El Nino conditions. Heavy Rain and Flooding Threat Continues Across South Florida

<p>NOAA has released <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.noaa.gov/news-release/noaa-predicts-below-normal-2026-atlantic-hurricane-season">their predictions for the 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season</a>. They are calling for a below normal season with 8-14 named storms, 3-6 hurricanes, and 1-3 major hurricanes. For probability, they predict a 35% chance of a near-normal season, a 10% chance of an above-normal season, and a 55% chance of a below-normal season. As a reminder, even below average seasons can have major impacts. All it takes is one storm making landfall for it to be a devastating season in the U.S.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2026/05/Screenshot 2026-05-21 100455-1779379504114.png"></p><p>NOAA sites several factors in their forecast, including the burgeoning El Ni­­ño, and possible Super Ni­­ño, shaping up in the tropical Pacific. The expectation for an El Ni­­ño event during the peak of the 2026 Atlantic Hurricane season is a big factor in keeping numbers lower than previous years, along with near normal sea surface temperatures, which have been much above average in recent seasons.</p><p>The confidence in an El Niño developing this summer is quite high, but the remaining question is how strong will the event be? A weak El Ni­­ño typically has a lower impact on the tropics in the Atlantic, while a strong El Ni­­ño has a more consistent impact. Each updated forecast from the Climate Prediction Center shows higher confidence in this year's El Ni­­ño being on the strong side.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2026/05/Screenshot 2026-05-21 083641-1779374209515.png"></p><p>Why does El Ni­­ño typically reduce hurricane activity in the Atlantic Basin? The warmer water in the equatorial pacific often leads to a more energetic sub-tropical jet, leading to stronger winds in the upper-atmosphere over the Caribbean. Surface winds in the Caribbean most often comes from the east, known as the trade winds. When these winds lay under strong winds from the opposite (or even the same direction), it leads to strong wind shear which tears hurricanes apart.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2026/04/Screenshot 2026-04-09 063418-1775740706915.png">“Although El Niño’s impact in the Atlantic Basin can often suppress hurricane development, there is still uncertainty in how each season will unfold,” said NOAA’s National Weather Service Director Ken Graham. “That is why it’s essential to review your hurricane preparedness plan now. It only takes one storm to make for a very bad season.”</p><p>If this year's name list looks familiar, it's the same one from the historically active 2020 season. There is one difference: the name "Laura" was retired after Hurricane Laura devastated the Louisiana coast. NOAA Predicts Below Normal 2026 Hurricane Season

Alana Cameron was born and raised in Canada in the city of Mississauga, just outside of Toronto. Alana is the oldest of 4 siblings, all close in age, and grew up playing outside with them in all types of weather. After graduating high school, Alana moved to study at the University of British Columbia in Kelowna for a year before transferring to Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia where she completed a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Atmospheric Science. Upon completion, Alana moved back to Toronto where she completed a post-grad degree in Meteorology at York University. After her post-grad, she went on to complete another post-grad in Broadcast Journalism - TV News at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario. During her final year of studies she had the privilege of interning with the best in the business in Canada at The Weather Network. Once she finished her internship, she got the call from small-town Denison, Texas where she accepted a job as an on-air meteorologist at KTEN-TV, right in tornado alley, covering severe weather from Sherman/Denison (North Texas) to Ada (Southern Oklahoma). After the most active tornado season Oklahoma had seen in May 2019 (105 tornadoes!) Alana is excited to join WeatherNation to cover weather all across the nation. <p><strong>MAY 2026: </strong>Meteorological spring officially ends on May 31st before giving way to meteorological summer (June-July-August). As we wrap up the season, we're taking a look back at May, typically the most active tornado month of the year in th United States, to see how this year compared to average.</p><p>First, it's important to understand the baseline. April, May, and June, account for more than half (54%) of the average annual tornado totals in the U.S. May alone averages 268 tornadoes nationwide.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2026/05/Screenshot 2026-05-31 142144-1780258994499.png"></p><h3>2026 vs. Average</h3><p>According to the <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.spc.noaa.gov/climo/summary/">SPC</a> this year we've had 166 tornadoes reported this May, which is about 100 less than an average year.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2026/06/Screenshot 2026-06-01 171050-1780355486229.png">That doesn't mean the month has been without impact. Several notable tornadoes occurred across the country:</p><ul><li><p><strong>May 6 - Mississippi:</strong> An EF3 tornado tracked from Sibley to Monticello, injuring 23 people and destroying numerous homes, mobile homes, and vehicles.<br></p><div class="twitter-tweet" style="display: flex; justify-content: center" data-twitt-post-id="2052569172065042760" src="https://x.com/WeatherNation/status/2052569172065042760"></div></li><li><p><strong>May 17 - Nebraska:</strong> An EF3 tornado struck near St. Libory, damaging or destroying homes and a rural housing development.</p><div class="twitter-tweet" style="display: flex; justify-content: center" data-twitt-post-id="2056185501854650512" src="https://x.com/WeatherNation/status/2056185501854650512"></div></li><li><p><strong>May 19 - Texas:</strong> An EF3 tornado impacted Mineral Wells, damaging homes and businesses throughout the community.</p></li></ul><p>While May 2026 was less active than average by the numbers, a few statistics stand out: Oklahoma recorded just 2 tornado reports this month, compared to its May average of 32. May 2026 Tornado Recap: Below Average, But Not Without Impact

Originally born in Spokane, Washington,  Jackie's Dad was in the Air Force which led her to a life of travel. She has lived in Wichita, Okinawa, Japan, Baltimore, New Jersey, Indiana and South Carolina.  After graduating from Kadena High School, in Okinawa Japan, she got a full basketball scholarship to Coppin State College. On the court she was a 4-year starter and reached over 1000 points in her basketball career. She was also named Athlete of the Year for the whole university in 2002. Off the court, she earned a degree in Broadcast Production/English.

After college, she landed a job as a radio personality. Jackie went on to have a successful career for 12 years working at KXLY broadcast center. While on the radio, she decided to change career. Jackie went back to school, graduating from the Mississippi State Meteorology Broadcast Program. From snow, to tornadoes, to hurricanes, she has had experience forecasting all these events.

Overnight, there is a<strong> SLIGHT</strong> risk for severe storms across eastern Colorado, Kansas, and portions of Nebraska. Thunderstorms capable of producing severe wind gusts and large hail are likely. There is a significant hail threat, meaning hailstones of 2 inches or larger will be possible with these storms. Make sure to have a plan in place as these storms continue through the overnight hours. </p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2026/06/fss-1780366024839.png"></p><h1>Timing:</h1><p>Storms have fired up this afternoon and evening, and some storms will hold together overnight. Big Hail Targets the Central Plains Today; More Storms on the Way

<p>Clear skies provided perfect viewing conditions for Manhattanhenge this year. The biannual event took place on Thursday, May 28, and Friday, May 29, when the setting sun aligned with the east-west street grid of Manhattan. The timing couldn't have been better, as clouds and rain showers moved into the Northeast over the weekend, obscuring the view.</p><div class="twitter-tweet" style="display: flex; justify-content: center" data-twitt-post-id="2060201967289577750" src="https://x.com/WeatherNation/status/2060201967289577750"></div><p>While some saw rain for the first half of the weekend, high elevations in New Hampshire actually saw some snowfall on Saturday! Mount Washington reported nearly 6" of snowfall.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2026/05/Screenshot 2026-05-30 190735-1780189663746.png"></p><p>The next quick-moving system moves in on Sunday, bringing rain showers and some embedded storms. Wrapping Up Another Cool and Wet Weekend for the Northeast

Taban Sharifi grew up in Southern California between Los Angeles and San Diego. She is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) with the American Meteorological Society (AMS). She has a B.S. in Atmospheric, Oceanic, and Environmental Sciences with a minor in Environmental Systems and Society from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Go Bruins! While in school, Taban was a meteorology intern with NBC LA. There she helped forecast daily weather for the greater Los Angeles region and created a playbook to deploy weather sensors for NBC owned-and-operated stations across the country. Her first on-air job took her to San Angelo, Texas, where she was a morning meteorologist and co-anchor. Working in West Texas gave her knowledge and experience covering severe storms. From there, she moved to Palm Springs, California. People think forecasting in California is sunshine all the time, but with temperatures in the 120’s, wildfires, damaging winds, floodings, and earthquakes, the forecasting kept her very busy! She also worked there as a general assignment reporter and told community stories. Taban is excited for the challenge and opportunity to forecast nationally with WeatherNation. She also looks forward to exploring all that Colorado has to offer!

<p>Record high temperatures have been breaking since Memorial Day Weekend in the Northern Plains, making the High Plains the hottest temperatures across the country! On Wednesday, another record was broken in this area for Baker, Montana, reaching 89°!</p><p><strong>Heat Advisories</strong> remain in effect for portions of Montana through Thursday for the dangerous heat. <p>The Storm Prediction Center has highlighted a <strong>SLIGHT </strong>risk (level 2 out of 5) for severe storms from Ohio to the northern reaches of the Tarheel State.
