TEXAS - It was another hot November day across the state of Texas, where numerous record high temperatures fell, including Houston and Brownsville, soaring above the 90-degree mark on November 17th.<h1><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-17 165930-1763423976658.png">Southern Plains</h1>Although Texas is no stranger to heat, temperatures will feel more like summer, with some locales reaching high temperatures 20°+ above average!<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-17 130107-1763409709222.png"><h1>Southeast</h1>As the ridge migrates further east later this week, places like Tennessee and North Carolina will get a bump to their afternoon highs. Record Heat Continues This Week

Intense rain and wind began impacting California again on Thursday and continued throughout the weekend as a strong Pacific trough began moving inland. Flooding reports and landslides have been reported across the entire state over the last few days after some places received more than six inches of rain!<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-17 082640-1763393207828.png">Unfortunately, we're not out of the woods yet, as another disturbance is moving through currently. That will bring a renewed round of rain and snow for the Golden State. The biggest concern for flash flooding will be again in Southern California, where recent (this year) burn scars refuse to absorb any of the heavy rainfall.<h1><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-17 132324-1763411235358.png">Timing</h1>The frontal boundary has pushed onshore and will start to moves east before being pulled back towards California through Tuesday.<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/11-17-rsw-1763411281154.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video>You can also watch the regional forecast on demand with the WeatherNation app!

Another Round of Rain Moves Through California Today

Alana Cameron was born and raised in Canada in the city of Mississauga, just outside of Toronto. Alana is the oldest of 4 siblings, all close in age, and grew up playing outside with them in all types of weather. After graduating high school, Alana moved to study at the University of British Columbia in Kelowna for a year before transferring to Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia where she completed a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Atmospheric Science. Upon completion, Alana moved back to Toronto where she completed a post-grad degree in Meteorology at York University. After her post-grad, she went on to complete another post-grad in Broadcast Journalism - TV News at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario. During her final year of studies she had the privilege of interning with the best in the business in Canada at The Weather Network. Once she finished her internship, she got the call from small-town Denison, Texas where she accepted a job as an on-air meteorologist at KTEN-TV, right in tornado alley, covering severe weather from Sherman/Denison (North Texas) to Ada (Southern Oklahoma). After the most active tornado season Oklahoma had seen in May 2019 (105 tornadoes!) Alana is excited to join WeatherNation to cover weather all across the nation. Snow chances, a rain/snow mix, and even severe storms are all in the forecast as our next upper-level low tracks from the Northern Plains into the Ohio Valley, beginning this afternoon and continuing through tomorrow.<h2>North Central U.S.</h2>Through tonight across Missouri, the Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has issued a MARGINAL risk (level 1 out of 5) for severe storms. A warm front will lift through the region this afternoon and evening, and along that boundary, hail-producing storms are expected to develop. Some may reach severe limits.<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/11-17_rne w spc-1763411504058.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video>Farther north, on the cold side of the system, light snowfall is likely across portions of the Upper Midwest. At this time, accumulations appear minimal.<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/11-17 rnc-1763411613973.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video>The National Weather Service has issued winter weather alerts for portions of Minnesota, Wisconsin, and a couple of counties in South Dakota through Tuesday morning. Up to 3" of snowfall may fall in these areas and lead to hazardous travel conditions.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-17 161406-1763421260012.png"><h2>Ohio Valley</h2>As the low shifts east on Tuesday, the SPC maintains a MARGINAL risk for severe weather along the same warm front across parts of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee. Most storms should be hail-producers, but an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-17 130316-1763411691847.png">Here's a look at the timing, some of these storms will be ongoing from Monday night's weather, it's the same system moving through after all. As we start to run into more daytime heating tomorrow, the severe risk is focused on the areas highlighted above.<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/11-17_rne bams-1763411762451.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video>The National Weather Service has also issued winter weather advisories across portions of Ohio, West Virginia, and Kentucky through Tuesday morning for the potential of light icing.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-17 161532-1763421342674.png">With temperatures hovering near freezing, expect a widespread rain/snow mix (“the pink” on forecast maps). Northern Plains to the Northeast: Severe Storms, Snow, and a Wintry Mix

The next few days are going to be really nice with above-average temperatures across the Central and Southern Plains. Highs are expected to creep into the 80s. As we jump ahead a few days, the middle and end of next week are looking quite active and stormy! Storms look to fire up along a dryline on Wednesday across Texas and Oklahoma, and storms quickly increase in coverage and severity as we tap into daytime heating and humidity.<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/11-17_rsc bams wed-1763410721948.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video>The Storm Prediction Center has issued a MARGINAL (level 1 out of 5) risk for severe storms on Wednesday in portions of West Texas and into the Red River Valley of Oklahoma.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-17 131956-1763410798947.png">Although we are a couple of days out from the event, some of the early signs point to heavy rain and severe chances increasing across the Southern Plains starting Wednesday. Active Pattern Developing Across the Central U.S. This Week

It is that time of year again—when millions of Americans hit the road or the skies to connect with friends and family. AAA is expecting a record number of travelers this year, a number surpassing a record-breaking 2024! Most travelers will hit the road vs flying.<div data-youtube-video=""><iframe width="640" height="480" allowfullscreen="false" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/o78PUXSJCJU" start="0"></iframe></div><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-17 104347-1763401813998.png">With millions hitting the roads, traffic will be hard to avoid, no matter where you are heading. However, there will be some better times to do your traveling. AAA suggests starting the journey early but with a reasonable night of sleep the night prior.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-17 105052-1763401888415.png">With so many traveling over the holidays, there are some favored destinations. A Record Breaking Thanksgiving Travel Week Expected

<h1>OVERNIGHT</h1>Winter weather alerts remain in place for heavy snow in northern Maine, mixed snow and ice from northern New York through New Hampshire, and even lake effect snow warnings for western Pennsylvania. These alerts will remain in place through Monday.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Web1-1763375387255.png">Snow will be possible overnight and into Monday, with a few lake-effect bands possible. With photos and videos prove that skygaziers are spotting them much farther south in the United States and Europe over the last two years. It begs the question...Why are we seeing these geomagnetic storms that are far more reaching than normal?The reason? The sun is undergoing a dramatic magnetic shift. Every 11 years, its poles reverse, creating intense magnetic twists and disturbances that fuel these vivid light shows.Aurora lovers, rejoice! The Space Weather Prediction Center correctly said Tuesday, November 11th, that aurora chances could be seen as far south as Alabama and California. Space weather forecasters predict more dazzling displays AGAIN Wednesday night into Thursday.<div class="twitter-tweet" style="display: flex; justify-content: center" data-twitt-post-id="1988725181372629334" src="https://x.com/NWSSWPC/status/1988725181372629334"></div>ANOTHER coronal mass ejection (CME) is expected to arrive at and impact the Earth with the potential for elevated geomagnetic response, AKA: more auroras. As of 1 pm ET on November 12th, the SWPC issued a Geomagnetic Storm Watch of G4 or higher, the same alert level issued for Tuesday night into Wednesday!<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-12 112939-1762972276799.png"><h3>THE FORECAST:</h3>Timing with the arrival of CMEs and their corresponding aurora is difficult to forecast, but this is the latest outlook from the Space Weather Prediction Center (released around midday Wednesday) for Wednesday night.
