Temperatures have been hot in the south-central U.S., especially in Texas, where record highs have been set over the last few days. With this heat in mind, as we head into tomorrow, it could help fuel a thunderstorm threat. The system currently over the Four Corners will move into west Texas later on Wednesday. Storms are expected to erupt in the afternoon and will quickly intensify as they tap into daytime heating and humidity.<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/JFJFJAAAAAA-1763512134568.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video>The Storm Prediction Center has issued a MARGINAL (level 1 out of 5) risk for severe storms on Wednesday in portions of West Texas and into the Red River Valley of Oklahoma. The primary concern is large hail, but a few damaging wind gusts can't be ruled out at this point.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-18 133050-1763497856141.png">There are a few things that might hinder the severity of these storms. Questionable timing on the storms could keep them from reaching their full potential. Since storms could hold off until after sunset, the window to tap into the unstable air that builds up during the day could be narrow. One ingredient we know we have plenty of is moisture.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-18 133359-1763498048736.png">The Weather Prediction Center has also issued excessive rainfall outlooks starting Wednesday and continuing through the end of the week. The most concern for flash flooding will be on Thursday, when the second big push of widespread storms will move through.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-18 133420-1763498085663.png"><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-18 133420-1763498076189.png">But will that second batch of storms be severe? That's a bit up in the air still. Since storms will likely survive overnight, it will depend on how strong those are. If they are strong in the morning, an afternoon severe threat will be limited. Active Pattern Developing Across the Central U.S. This Week

Taban Sharifi grew up in Southern California between Los Angeles and San Diego. She is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) with the American Meteorological Society (AMS). She has a B.S. in Atmospheric, Oceanic, and Environmental Sciences with a minor in Environmental Systems and Society from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Go Bruins! While in school, Taban was a meteorology intern with NBC LA. There she helped forecast daily weather for the greater Los Angeles region and created a playbook to deploy weather sensors for NBC owned-and-operated stations across the country. Her first on-air job took her to San Angelo, Texas, where she was a morning meteorologist and co-anchor. Working in West Texas gave her knowledge and experience covering severe storms. From there, she moved to Palm Springs, California. People think forecasting in California is sunshine all the time, but with temperatures in the 120’s, wildfires, damaging winds, floodings, and earthquakes, the forecasting kept her very busy! She also worked there as a general assignment reporter and told community stories. Taban is excited for the challenge and opportunity to forecast nationally with WeatherNation. She also looks forward to exploring all that Colorado has to offer!

Intense rain and wind began impacting California again on Thursday and continued throughout the weekend as a strong Pacific trough began moving inland. Flooding reports and landslides have been reported across the entire state over the last few days after some places received more than six inches of rain!A few flood watches remain in effect through Wednesday morning.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-18 164835-1763509723732.png">Another round of moisture will move in from the Pacific Northwest through Southern California late this week.<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/1118-1763509574699.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video>The higher elevations will get additional snow with more rain accumulations for the lower elevations.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-18 164621-1763509591788.png">The Weather Prediction Center (WPC) already has a marginal (level 1 out of 4) threat for Southern California to see heavy rainfall and flooding Thursday through Friday.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-18 164703-1763509661404.png">You can also watch the regional forecast on demand with the WeatherNation app!

TEXAS - It was another hot November day across the state of Texas, where numerous record high temperatures have fallen in recent days. Brownsville went soaring above the 90-degree mark on Monday - for comparison, they normally stop seeing if after October 21st!<h1><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-17 165930-1763423976658.png">Southern Plains</h1>Although Texas is no stranger to heat, temperatures will feel more like summer, with some locales reaching high temperatures 15-20°+ above average!<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-18 133519-1763498142095.png"><h1>Southeast</h1>As the ridge migrates further east later this week, places like Tennessee and North Carolina will get a bump to their afternoon highs. Originally born in Spokane, Washington,  Jackie's Dad was in the Air Force which led her to a life of travel. She has lived in Wichita, Okinawa, Japan, Baltimore, New Jersey, Indiana and South Carolina.  After graduating from Kadena High School, in Okinawa Japan, she got a full basketball scholarship to Coppin State College. On the court she was a 4-year starter and reached over 1000 points in her basketball career. She was also named Athlete of the Year for the whole university in 2002. Off the court, she earned a degree in Broadcast Production/English.

After college, she landed a job as a radio personality. Jackie went on to have a successful career for 12 years working at KXLY broadcast center. While on the radio, she decided to change career. Jackie went back to school, graduating from the Mississippi State Meteorology Broadcast Program. From snow, to tornadoes, to hurricanes, she has had experience forecasting all these events.

As a low-pressure system moves through the Ohio River Valley, strong and severe storms continue to develop. We have had multiple reports of hail across Illinois and Indiana.(above) Bellair, IL, saw 2.50" hail as of Tuesday afternoon. The severe threat remains in place through this evening.<h2>Ohio Valley</h2>As the low shifts east on Tuesday, the SPC maintains a SLIGHT risk for severe weather along the same warm front across parts of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee. Most storms should be hail-producers, but an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/THROUGH TOA-1763501609958.png">Storms will continue to ride along a low-pressure system through tonight. Make sure to have multiple ways to get alerts. There may be pockets of heavy rain as this system moves through as well.<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/JFJFJAAAAAA-1763501942624.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video>Here's a look at forecast accumulation through Wednesday morning. Most folks will see around a quarter of an inch to an inch of rain. Severe Storms Threaten The Ohio River Valley

It is that time of year again—when millions of Americans hit the road or the skies to connect with friends and family. AAA is expecting a record number of travelers this year, a number surpassing a record-breaking 2024! However, there will be some better times to do your traveling. AAA suggests starting the journey early but with a reasonable night of sleep the night prior.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-17 105052-1763401888415.png">With so many traveling over the holidays, there are some favored destinations. A Record Breaking Thanksgiving Travel Week Expected

<h1>OVERNIGHT</h1>Winter weather alerts remain in place for heavy snow in northern Maine, mixed snow and ice from northern New York through New Hampshire, and even lake effect snow warnings for western Pennsylvania. These alerts will remain in place through Monday.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Web1-1763375387255.png">Snow will be possible overnight and into Monday, with a few lake-effect bands possible. With photos and videos prove that skygaziers are spotting them much farther south in the United States and Europe over the last two years. It begs the question...Why are we seeing these geomagnetic storms that are far more reaching than normal?The reason? The sun is undergoing a dramatic magnetic shift. Every 11 years, its poles reverse, creating intense magnetic twists and disturbances that fuel these vivid light shows.Aurora lovers, rejoice! The Space Weather Prediction Center correctly said Tuesday, November 11th, that aurora chances could be seen as far south as Alabama and California. Space weather forecasters predict more dazzling displays AGAIN Wednesday night into Thursday.<div class="twitter-tweet" style="display: flex; justify-content: center" data-twitt-post-id="1988725181372629334" src="https://x.com/NWSSWPC/status/1988725181372629334"></div>ANOTHER coronal mass ejection (CME) is expected to arrive at and impact the Earth with the potential for elevated geomagnetic response, AKA: more auroras. As of 1 pm ET on November 12th, the SWPC issued a Geomagnetic Storm Watch of G4 or higher, the same alert level issued for Tuesday night into Wednesday!<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-12 112939-1762972276799.png"><h3>THE FORECAST:</h3>Timing with the arrival of CMEs and their corresponding aurora is difficult to forecast, but this is the latest outlook from the Space Weather Prediction Center (released around midday Wednesday) for Wednesday night.
