Earthquake and Forecast Tsunami in the Caribbean

At 9:52 pm ET January 9, 2018, an earthquake with preliminary magnitude of 7.6 occured north of Honduras in the Caribbean sea.  Based on initial data from www.tsunami.gov  tsunami waves are forecast for some coasts across the region. Tsunami waves reaching 0.3 to 1.0 meters above the tide level are possible for some coasts of Belize, Cuba, Honduras, Mexico, Cayman Islands and Jamaica.  Check with local authorities for actual threat level in your area.  Be prepared to take action if dangerous Tsunami waves approach your location.  More information can be found at www.tsunami.gov .
