Another vigorous wave looks like it's taking aim at the Plains. A wave moving in from the Pacific will ride over the Rockies and enter more warm weather in the High Plains.
That will stir up our latest batch of severe storms to affect the Great Plains. The midsection of the country has taken the brunt of June, leading any other area of the lower 48 in tornadoes. It just hasn't been where you would expect. "Tornado Alley" is typically thought of from Texas to Nebraska, but more tornadoes have been in Illinois and Indiana.
While it's early, timing is going to favor the afternoon and evening. Strong storms look to erupt after 3 PM. Large hail appears to be the easiest culprit to pin down,
Slow-moving storms look to dump rain on some already saturated grounds. Flash flooding will likely become an issue SOMEWHERE in the Central Plains this weekend.
