Another night of cold temperatures will be felt in the Southeast. The mercury will drop into the 20s and 30s over all but central and southern Florida. Frost Advisories and Freeze Warnings are widespread throughout the region. Appropriate action should be taken to ensure tender vegetation. Be prepared to protect sensitive outdoor vegetation as these conditions could kill crops and plants if left unprotected. Sensitive outdoor plants should be covered, brought indoors or otherwise protected. Outdoor pets need adequate protection from the cold temperatures. Young children, the elderly and the homeless are especially vulnerable to the cold. Take measures to protect them. Cover unprotected outdoor plumbing. A strong area of high pressure moving slowly eastward from the Deep South will usher in cold and dry air. Light northerly winds push down colder temperatures from the northern part of the country. Light winds, clear skies, and dry air are perfect ingredients for a frost and freeze.
