Several record highs were set in the Northeast on Wednesday. As the mercury soared into the 90s, records were broken from New England to the Mason-Dixon line. Another day of heat and humidity will be felt today (Thursday), as Heat Advisories are in effect from near Cape Cod to Chesapeake Bay. High temperatures will push well into the 90s as the heat index climbs above the century point. Residents are reminded to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms when possible, avoid long periods in the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors, especially older adults who live alone. A cold front will push slowly into the region Friday, taking an edge off the heat. The front will continue to sag southward this weekend as the Jet Stream pattern shifts, bringing cooler temperatures to the region. For WeatherNation: Meteorologist Mace Michaels
