Heavy rainfall was tough to move late Tuesday night in the Chicagoland area. With some highly localized areas picking up 3-5 inches of rain, flash flooding was imminent.
Showers pushed in around 9-10 PM CDT and didn't end until after midnight. By then, the efficient rain-producer left several motorists stranded as the water swamped many areas of the metro.
The crosshairs of the storms will slide east into Michigan. Some could produce damaging winds into this afternoon, including around the Detroit metro area. This isn't expected to be a severe weather outbreak, however, with the Storm Prediction Center highlighting this area with a MARGINAL severe outlook.
