Cooler Northeast After a Day of Record Heat

The Northeast is cooling down after a day of record heat on Thursday. Several records fell as highs soared to the 90s. Newark, NJ set a new record of 98 while Philadelphia tied their record of 95. All of this came with high humidity which sent heat index values into the 100s for many locations. Cooler air has since moved in and will continue to push through this weekend. Highs will drop 10-20 degrees for many on Friday with an even more significant cool down to come on Saturday thanks to reinforcing cooler air. This trend last into the end of the weekend.
