WEST - Heat alerts have been issued across the western U.S. from Arizona to Washington State. The cause of this heat wave is an upper-level ridge building in from Mexico. This will be responsible for the intense heat in the southwest.
Heat advisories (orange), extreme heat warnings (pink), and extreme heat watches (red) have been issued for portions of California, Nevada, and Arizona through Thursday. Temperatures may rise to 110-116°F in some of these locations. Too hot for the human body to handle. Unfortunately, heat is the deadliest weather phenomenon in the USA.

Heat advisories have been issued through Tuesday evening in the northwest, too. Temperatures here may also reach the triple digits on Tuesday afternoon.
There will be some relief for the Pacific Northwest by Wednesday as a quick moving system moves through.
