Many western ski resorts have added fresh powder this week and much more is ahead. Another foot is possible in the highest elevations by the end of the week as a series of storm systems continue to move into the West. Localized snow accumulations of 3 feet are likely in the Sierra Nevada mountain peaks. Winter Storm Warnings continue from the Cascades to the Sierra. Along with the heavy snow, strong wind gusts to 60 mph will create near zero visibility and difficult travel conditions. High Wind Warnings extend eastward into Wyoming, ahead of the snow. A series of fronts will bring the widespread precipitation to the West into this weekend. The first front moved ashore from the Pacific Ocean Tuesday and will approach the Front Range Thursday. The second front will into the coast late tonight and Thursday morning. For WeatherNation: Meteorologist Mace Michaels
