Rain has been heavy in the Southwest due to monsoon season starting up. In the past 24 hours alone, most areas saw everywhere from half an inch to 3 inches of rain. Because of the large amounts of rain in such a short period of time, flooding has been occurring in parts of the southwest. Rain will continue today for the southwest, especially during the afternoon. Excessive rainfall may occur for everywhere highlighted in green. Heavy rainfall could lead to flash flooding. Numerous flash flood watches have been put into effect until Saturday. Remember if you're driving, TURN AROUND DON'T DROWN.   For WeatherNation -Meteorologist Shelly Lindblade
