Red Flag Warnings have been issued across parts of the inter-mountain west through Thursday evening. Per the National Weather Service, a Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior. Wind is forecast to increase to 15 to 25 mph during the afternoon across this region due to stronger wind higher in the atmosphere mixing down to the surface. This will happen as relative humidity stays low, increasing the fire threat. Tune to WeatherNation for this and other weather stories. For WeatherNation, I am Meteorologist Marcus Walter.
