Originally born in Spokane, Washington,  Jackie's Dad was in the Air Force which led her to a life of travel. She has lived in Wichita, Okinawa, Japan, Baltimore, New Jersey, Indiana and South Carolina.  After graduating from Kadena High School, in Okinawa Japan, she got a full basketball scholarship to Coppin State College. On the court she was a 4-year starter and reached over 1000 points in her basketball career. She was also named Athlete of the Year for the whole university in 2002. Off the court, she earned a degree in Broadcast Production/English.

After college, she landed a job as a radio personality. Jackie went on to have a successful career for 12 years working at KXLY broadcast center. While on the radio, she decided to change career. Jackie went back to school, graduating from the Mississippi State Meteorology Broadcast Program. From snow, to tornadoes, to hurricanes, she has had experience forecasting all these events.

Another round of records was set today across the southern plains as an area of high pressure dominates! Amarillo, Texas, saw a high of 89°, beating the old record of 85°, which was previously set in 1916. Multiple records were set across Texas and Nebraska. Temperatures will run 10-15 degrees above average.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/1-1762383898254.png">As we take a look into early next week, a blast of arctic air will bring BIG CHANGES! Alana Cameron was born and raised in Canada in the city of Mississauga, just outside of Toronto. Alana is the oldest of 4 siblings, all close in age, and grew up playing outside with them in all types of weather. After graduating high school, Alana moved to study at the University of British Columbia in Kelowna for a year before transferring to Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia where she completed a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Atmospheric Science. Upon completion, Alana moved back to Toronto where she completed a post-grad degree in Meteorology at York University. After her post-grad, she went on to complete another post-grad in Broadcast Journalism - TV News at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario. During her final year of studies she had the privilege of interning with the best in the business in Canada at The Weather Network. Once she finished her internship, she got the call from small-town Denison, Texas where she accepted a job as an on-air meteorologist at KTEN-TV, right in tornado alley, covering severe weather from Sherman/Denison (North Texas) to Ada (Southern Oklahoma). After the most active tornado season Oklahoma had seen in May 2019 (105 tornadoes!) Alana is excited to join WeatherNation to cover weather all across the nation. <h2>Round 1 - Wednesday</h2>A frontal system is moving through the northeast today, bringing rain, gusty winds, and, behind the system, potential snowfall. Some spots, like New York state and New England, have already begun to see rain this afternoon.<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/New Baron Video 3-1762383472103.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video>Most folks will see around a tenth of an inch or less in terms of rainfall. Snow will be possible in the higher elevations. Snowfall totals will be around 1"-3", with localized heavier amounts possible.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/1-1762383555120.png">With a cold front moving through, the Storm Prediction Center has issued a MARGINAL (level 1 out of 5) risk for severe weather.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/1-1762383594117.png"><h2>Wind + Fire Danger</h2>Widespread wind alerts remain in place through Thursday. Some airports have been experiencing delays because of the strong winds. If you have any travel plans, be sure to check for updates and delays.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-05 123454-1762371309749.png">Due to some drier conditions further south and the potential for gusty winds, several red flag warnings have been issued. This will come with an elevated risk for wildfires in the highlighted area.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-05 123501-1762371317120.png"><h2>Round 2 - Friday</h2>Our next frontal system is expected to move into the northeast as we head into the end of the week. Windy and Stormy Weather For The Northeast

A series of atmospheric rivers has been responsible for wet, windy, and snowy weather in the northwestern U.S over the last few weeks. Our next system is currently moving through Washington, Oregon, and the northern tier of California, bringing heavy rainfall and snow. Above is the forecast rainfall totals for the next several days. Gold Beach in Oregon has already picked up 2.51" of rainfall in the past 24 hours.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-05 124205-1762371739660.png">Wednesday looks to be the window with the most widespread rain, which could lead to a renewed round of flooding. Parts of the northern Cascades could receive a foot or more of snow on the highest peaks.With multiple inches of rain on the way, the Weather Prediction Center is monitoring coastal areas at a level 1, MARGINAL, risk for excessive rainfall that may lead to flash flooding.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-05 095854-1762361963192.png">With such a strong trough ushering the rain onshore, it could also help organize a storm or two. Damaging winds and a brief tornado or two are possible as the better ingredients line up.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/1-1762382234966.png"><h2>Timing</h2>This latest atmospheric river event will keep going through this evening. However, the next cold front will bring more rain and snow on Thursday before conditions slightly improve for many heading into Friday and Saturday.<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/New Baron Video 3-1762382531698.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video><h1>Snow</h1>As some of that moisture makes its way into the higher elevation mountains, it will likely mean heavy snow for the mountains. Next Big Push of Moisture in the Northwest

This is an interesting setup that's been piquing our interest most of the week. A piñata of cold air is lurking in southern Canada, and a clipper will unlock a surge of cold air, dropping temperatures into the 40s-50s in FLORIDA early next week. That radical clash of two different air masses should be enough to spark storms. But will they become severe?<hr><h1>SETUP</h1>A parade of weaker frontal boundaries will be overtaken by the strongest one of the week. Temperatures will likely drop some 20 degrees in many locations, giving folks east of the Rockies the coldest shot of air of the season. It's a fine balance between having too much of one ingredient and not enough of another. This is where the uncertainty in this forecast lives.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-05 093905-1762361168975.png"><h1>WHAT'S MISSING</h1>As this powerful front drops south, it will slow down a bit. As it moves into temperatures in the 70s-80s, the forward speed will drop. The lift aspect of the front will not be quite as high as it will be further north. On the flip side, with better lift north, there is less energy to tap into, which helps power storms to the severe criteria.<h1><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-05 094216-1762361184074.png">WHAT COULD CHANGE</h1>There is still time to change the outcome. The fast-moving nature of these systems can lead to over- and underestimations of specific ingredients. A faster moving front would increase the severe risk farther south, while a better northward pull of unstable air will expand the threat north. Mid-South Eyeing Severe Threat Friday

NORTHERN PLAINS - As we head into the end of the week, an upper-level trough north of the border will usher cooler air into the northern U.S. With a couple of fronts passing through, temperatures may drop low enough to support some snow. So it’s time to brush up on our winter terminology, early winter snowstorms are here!<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/11-04 RNC-1762216937448.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video>Starting on Thursday, the first of two cold fronts will drop into the northern Plains. This first front will bring mostly rain to the U.S., with a few flurries possible. Once the second front moves through on Friday afternoon and evening, it should be cold enough to bring snow chances to North Dakota, Minnesota, and the Great Lakes region.<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/11-05_rnc round 1 and 2-1762371607292.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video><h2>Snow Models</h2>Forecast models are struggling with the temperature profile; the position of the freeze line could greatly impact who will see snowfall with these clippers. Our in-house model favors heavier amounts farther north.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-05 124021-1762371680551.png">Whereas, the GFS (American) Model favors lower amounts, farther south.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-05 124032-1762371697763.png">Afternoon temperatures in larger cities like Minneapolis should stay warm enough by the end of the week that any flurries that fall will likely melt fairly quickly.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-05 124145-1762371711470.png"> Those low temperatures will drop quickly, though. First Snow Forecast of the Season for the Northern Plains

Coastal areas will be dealing with intrusions of ocean water, known as coastal flooding, during the week ahead with the return of king tides!<h2>What is a "king tide?"</h2>When the gravitational pull of the sun and moon are both higher than normal, high and low tides become more pronounced, leading to flooding during high tide and potentially low water issues during the low tides.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-02 051621-1762088418982.png">This happens most often from the fall through the spring as the sun's gravitational pull on the earth is the strongest. Despite winter conditions in North America, the sun is actually closest to the earth in early January.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-02 051520-1762088418986.png"> King tides are most pronounced when the moon is at its closest point to the Earth in its orbit, which is known as perigee. This is happening at the same time as the full moon for both November and December, creating what's known as a supermoon. During these supermoon events, the moon will be about 14,000 miles closer to the Earth than normal!<h2><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-02 060337-1762088634156.png">November King Tides</h2>King tides will be ramping up throughout the week ahead. Note how much the tidal range grows in Charleston from now through Wednesday, increasing from about 6 feet to over 7 feet by Wednesday!<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Web5-1762342398833.png">Tides near Miami (Virginia Key below) will also increase this week, increasing from about 2 feet to 3 feet!<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Web1-1762342479536.png">Coastal flood alerts will likely be issued as we get closer to the mid-week time-frame, so be sure to check your high tide times locally and avoid areas near the coast during those times. Two upper level lows have brought a shot of cold air across the Northeast. Temperatures Wednesday AM were chilling for Illinois and Indiana. These chilly temperatures are going to continue to spread east. The mid-Atlantic will wake up to temperatures around 32° and or frost developing outside. This can be harmful to plants that have been planted especially since it has been a few weeks with warmer overnight temperatures. <img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/04/Web 19-1744803212343.png">There are a few winter weather advisories that continue into Wednesday for a quick inch or two of snow and wind gusts upwards of 35 mph.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/04/Winter Temps-1744803224940.png">The Northeast will spend the rest of the week digging out of this cool pocket and warming back up to seasonable levels and beyond.
