Sierra Nevada Heavy Snow This Weekend

Another round of snow is ahead for the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California this weekend, after several locations picked up 6" to 12" of accumulation already this week. Winter Storm Watches are in effect into Saturday morning through Sunday night. Accumulations of more than 6" are likely above 6,000 feet. Localized amounts of 2 feet are possible in the highest mountain peaks. Another punch of strong Jet Stream energy will push significant Pacific Ocean moisture ashore. A well organized low pressure center will push the humidity up the mountains and into the cold air, creating the heavy snowfall.  Snow will start late Saturday morning and continue into Sunday night.
