We Still Haven't Seen the Latest Sunrise of the Year

Days started getting longer on December, 22nd. But we still haven't seen our latest sun rise! Latest Sunrise of the Year The latest sunrise of the year isn't on the winter solstice. It actually doesn't happen until the following year! Though it varies from location to location, generally the latest sunrise of the year is on either January 4th or 5th. But if the latest sunrise of the year doesn't happen until almost 2 weeks later, what is going on with the sunset? It actually happens on the 7th of December.
