Parts of the Texas Panhandle will need to keep an eye on the weather forecast for this weekend.  The potential for strong to severe storms will be increasing over this area as a strong trough of low pressure sweeps in from the West.  Here is the latest forecast.

Severe Weather Set-Up

Strong mid and upper level winds will help to strengthen the chance for severe storms. Also, increasing moisture out of the Gulf Of Mexico will increase the instability and available energy over this same area.  If these ingredients come together as the forecast shows, we could see all modes of severe weather with large hail and damaging winds being the main weather risks.

Severe Outlook

The Storm Prediction Center is already highlighting this area with a 15% chance for severe thunderstorms.  The fact that this forecast is so far out in the future will mean we need to keep an eye on this situation.
